neo
a mate at work forgot to put the waterproof case properly on his gopro when he used it under water, end result was a dead camera and a wet microsd card, dried card and tried to view it on a android tablet (Samsung) which started auto format, he pulled the card mid format !!! asked me to try and recovery the videos for him, managed to recover 30 or so videos but none will play, files range in size from 30-400mb, any idea how to fix them ?? tried a few programmes after a Google search but none worked
StevoD
not sure it will help but worth ago try upload to youtube see if they plays if they do try and download the file from youtube hopefully it will give you a copy that works
ioneabee
can also depend on what type of format he did - full or quick one will write zeros the other will just re-allocate the space as free
neo
thx guys, will try a YouTube upload, worth a shot. think it was a quick format, recovered the files easily, just think the .mp4 container as been corrupted, shows them as .mp4 but won't play, just a black screen n no sound, the time bar just goes from start to finish in a second. neo
Not looking good for the video files although the last few have at least some moov information in the headers, so maybe a glimmer of hope.

Ybbew
I can give it a go at work if you have trouble and can't get them to work, I work for the police in computer and phone data recovery, always up for a challenge...
neo
thx for the offer maybe sorted, used "grau video repair", worked on the first few videos but sadly no sound, mate says he's happy with that anyways
Fodder
Sounds silly but did you try importing into go pro studio? Not all media players handle gopro created files and I've found them to be choppy etc unless you process them with gopro studio first. It's a free download and you don't need to own a gopro. neo
Sadly the video files make gopro studio crash when it tries to import the file, other .mp4/avi work fine
