galgazza
Dear forum, My 350z is being let down by the corroded base of the windscreen wipers. Can the full unit be replaced or is there a way cleaning them up ? Driving me mad
galgazza
If it makes more sense I mean the base of the arms..
ZEUS
Remove , sand them back , prime and top coat satin black. New ones aren't cheap I don't think.
cmck13
Same as Zeus, a dremel will get into the nooks and crannies if you have one. make sure you do go for satin black.

veilside z
As above mate, carefully mask the washer jet area first and apply a coat of Etch Primer, (you can buy an aerosol from Halfrauds) after flatting, on the bare metal area.

martybhoy
Mines were only a bit worn at the top. I got a medium and fine sanding block then some black paint on. They look fresh now.
iwanprice12
Mine are in the same condition. Know exactly what you mean! I have been tempted to sand the arms back and Hammerite them!!!
galgazza
Thanks everyone, they have really been letting the car down especially after its all waxed and clean. I will start work on these at the weekend
Rook
Hammerited one of mine and sanded it with a very fine grit, the other's just started to chip now. You couldn't tell the difference. Didn't even need to take the arm off - though believe me I tried, have fun with that hahaha.
Zeezeebaba
I just went a bought new arms . The old ones came of really easy too. They have a plastic washer type arrangement that moulds to the splines and avoids the issue of seizing in place like most other cars. Zeezeebaba
Yeah I have a habit of buying cars in need of tlc. Spending a fortune on new OEM parts and selling them for more but still making a small loss overall lol.

HassanZ
My ex colleague who works at a bodyshop did it for me last week during his lunch break for free. My Wiper arms look brand new again Edited July 9, 2015 by HassanZ
Guest
Same problem here, definetely letting the side down. My garage however reckoned half the arm is steel, easy to spray, the other half aluminium which doesn't rub down easily, true?
Stutopia
Same problem here, definetely letting the side down. My garage however reckoned half the arm is steel, easy to spray, the other half aluminium which doesn't rub down easily, true? I just whipped them off, sanded them back, prime red and painted. The only tricky bit was finding somewhere not too damp and dusty to let them dry.

Paul K
Once you have the retaining nut off try pressing on the arm near the pivot where it joins the blade. It should just Spring off. Mine did!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited May 10, 2016 by Paul K

Quinster
I so need to do this now. I've been threatening for weeks. But on slightly different note.. Fixed my skoosher problem today. There was no pressure at all and there were certainly no "jets", so i removed the small inline filter and joined the pipes with a small insert. Window skoosher is now known as turbo wash. I got all the info on this forum again. Thanks Robert
