Boulderman1988
Hi all, I'm after a low mileage good condition or refurbed CD009 gearbox since the previous owner(s) have managed to ruin mine after 45000 miles! Cheers Matt

GT4 Zed
I just rebuilt my CD009 box ad it's awesome. I wish I did this's at back instead of looking out for a deal on a used box. The cost will be about the same or less but you have a "new" box instead of a used one you don't know the history of. If I get around to do it I'll do a write up. coldel
Have to say wish I had gone this route, I thought the gearbox on my Zed was pretty un-sporty and clunky. Especially now having experienced the manuals in the VX and GT4 which are much sharper, shorter and tight, didnt have the play in them like the Zed. It'd be cool to see a write up of a job like that!

Boulderman1988
Yeah please do! That's the alternative i guess - i was just worried that the cost might exceed the price of a replacement box but i'd rather get it rebuilt if feasible. How much did it cost? Everyone seems reluctant to give an idea of price of gearbox internals and likely cost of rebuild. Where did you get yours done? I'm in Sutton Coldfield (Birmingham)
ZMANALEX
Your gearbox rebuild specialist is the only one who can give you an informed cost of your particular box. Every thing else is just speculation as each box is different, and that is why peeps, including myself are reluctant to price up for you. Alex. Boulderman1988
Fair do's - any recommendations for specialists in the west midlands?
KyleR
A rebuild should cost around £500 and a new CD009 box will cost anywhere from £700 to £1000 depending on miles and condition.
GT4 Zed
You mean used👀. And as Alex said cost is dependent on damage. Mine cost £700 but I ended up paying £600 as the specialist discounted it due to knowing the chap who sent me to him. Personally after what I saw of the internals I would only recommend a rebuild because it's a gamble with a used box. My box is better than it ever was and has performed flawlessly for 30+ laps at the Ring recently.
