HAMLNJ
Hi guys, getting a sweet smell after hard acceleration. Cars done 115k, serviced about 1.2k ago. It has done it before a long time ago but disappeared. Now it's back and not going away. It does use oil like most people but I am worried its getting worse. Oil seals? People do tell me that they can smell burnt oil when I'm pushing hard. While they are driving behind.
veilside z
Anti freeze smells and tastes sweet. Check your coolant level buddy, unless you have a stash of chocolate hidden in your engine bay. Does the cabin smell sweet too? HAMLNJ
Cabin fills with a sweet burning sort of smell when I accelerate hard. I'll check the levels and oil tomorrow. Worrying though.
JoKeR
I had the same problem before mate. It was the seals in cylinders 5 & 6 and the spark plug were covered in oil! I would say check the spark plugs as it seems the service if it included the spark plug change; fixed it temporarily as there was no oil on the new plugs. Then after a while, new oil leaked through and started to burn again. If it is the case mate drop me a PM as I have leaky rocker covers that you can buy and fix up with the Torquen kit while keeping your car drivable during the repair. 😀 That's what she 'Zed' :-/
veilside z
This makes sense, however would it smell sweet?

But he didn't think that would do anything. I'll have the spark plugs checked and see what's happening.
