jimboy2 Posted May 28, 2015 Share Posted May 28, 2015 So had MOT done yesterday, flew through as expected with no advisories. So I thought I would let the garage fit my new pads lines and fluid. Drove the car home and the pedal feel is so much worse than before I had that lot done! Spoke to the garage who said they had trouble bleeding them and it took them 2 attempts and they have said it should get better as the pads bed in. I'm guessing the last bit is BS. any one near Portsmouth fancy bleeding them for me? Waiting to hear back from abbey for when they can book me in for HFC fitting and they can do it then but that could be 2 weeks! Knew I shouldn't have trusted them!! They let the master cylinder run dry and had to bleed 3 times before the pedal felt normal. Go back to the garage and get them to sort it out. Ebized Posted May 28, 2015 Share Posted May 28, 2015 Betting is they did not bleed from both nipples on each front caliper (sounds painful I know lol) but so often this has been found to be the issue. I found that they needed to be bled twice before I got it nice and hard . jimboy2 Posted May 28, 2015 Author Share Posted May 28, 2015 Also just noticed that they have ruined my wheels. Absolutely raging. They have obviously used a socket too big to remove the wheel bolts. You would think after scratching one you would stop and find a suitable tool. But instead they have marked every bolt hole in the wheel!! I knew I shouldn't have trusted them! Rang them earlier and gave them ear ache. Can't take it back to them until Tuesday as I'm away. Not a happy man! What sort of repair would you expect them to offer? I think I should be entitled to all 4 wheels refurbed. But is that something I should expect? I know I won't be happy with anything less then a full refurb from the wheels specialist. Thoughts? Siman350z Posted May 28, 2015 Share Posted May 28, 2015 They legally have a duty of care when dealing with your car and clearly that hasn't happened- demand a refurb. I think you'll have a fight on your hands to choose the place though- that's the sad thing as most places use somewhere cheap to sort the issue (happened to me twice preciously on other cars). Lesson learnt though- only use specialists rarely find they cost much more either. Bad enough your wheels being damaged, but the brakes - that is not excusable and frankly very dangerous. Don't be fobbed off with your wheels. though either. Personally I would also never use an main dealer either, people who call cars old dogs once a vehicle reaches 3 years old is not going to show due care and attention to my car. I know you did not use a main dealer. I have just had my rear pads and discs replaced - and they are spot on. I do however wish Zedshed was closer !!! The Trouser Posted May 29, 2015 Share Posted May 29, 2015 I don't think that it is as black and white to distinguish that Nissan main dealer=bad, independent dealer=good - its about who you trust to do the work on your Zed. For me, I am using a Nissan main dealer who I trust. When my Zed is in with them, I can look under the Zed when they've found something wrong and are happy to talk through options regarding repairs etc. when I question them about it. Stutopia Posted May 29, 2015 Share Posted May 29, 2015 If all the wheels are like that, is purely carelessness and they should be repaired such that you can't tell they were damaged. Good luck getting it sorted. FWIW they changed brake fluid at my last service. After my tech took it out after to test (on his insurance). Then he asked me to take it out and see how it felt. The pedal was way spongy. It went back up on the ramp for more bleeding, then another test drive, sorted. Only lessons because can you honestly say you will do the same thing in years to come, I don't think so just count yourself lucky it's reparable. You should just go back and say inunderstand my car requires a bespoke bleeding procedure that I have printed out for you could you be ever so kind as to help me out and repair my breaks as they are no longer fit for purpose.
