san marino blue
Hello, I thought I had better join the family as I have been using all the info you guys give and wish to thank everyone I have a San Marino Blue 07, 313 roadster, bought last October as a mid life crisis! I picked her up very cheap from a dealer, with low oil pressure. My gut feeling was not to touch it, but you know what it's like, I drove her and fell in love. I swear he knew what he was doing when he sold it me. Loads of sites said the gauges weren't accurate and that dirty or incorrect oil will do this Anyway, she ran great and sounded fine, so I took a chance...... A bit of tyre kicking and 500quid off the asking price and she was mine On the way home ECL came on, but still running fine, so I was guessing it was something pretty minor. Undertray came loose, hit the road, thank God for fencing wire To cut a long story short, the oil pressure was terrible, oil changes didn't work I ended up stripping the timing cover and replacing the paper gaskets on the internal oil way, on the drive in December. Not a great start to our relationship. Since then however I have replaced discs and pads all round, all fluids, fitted braided hoses, repaired the undertray and fitted Goodyear F1s all round. Someone thought unbranded tyres would be a good idea with 300bhp. It used to drift well I suppose She now runs great and I am a real Z convert, plus I know far more about the VQ35HR than I should! I still got a good deal, as I sorted it myself and the bits were cheap enough God knows what a main dealer would have cost Thanks for all the threads posted, I'd never have figured out there were internal gaskets that fail without your help I will be taking the Z to Le Mans in June to support the Nissan LMP1 team. So fingers crossed for them and me!

san marino blue
Thanks, I have to agree with you all. I certainly open the bonnet with a lot more confidence now They look worse than they are and not too bad to work on. Mind you I had to cut the crank bolt to get it off. 2000nm air gun and burning torch wouldn't touch it Slit the shoulders on the bolt with an angle grinder in the end and it virtually came off by hand I've never had a crank bolt beat me before. They must have some big lads in Japan
Tyrone
Sounds like you had a bumpy start mate!! Love fixing and tinkering with engines. I had it once on a Landy ended up with a breaker bar on the bolt rested against the chassis rail and flicking the start very dodgy mind and a little scary. Good luck with the Le Mans trip. san marino blue
Hi You're right, I did regret buying her quite a few times The starter motor method was discussed at some lengths in the pub I can imagine it's not something to be taken lightly My worry was it might strip the fly wheel as well as maim someone The way the job was going I really didn''t need that But it's all been for the best. They really are great cars I even had a gang of young lads ask which Ferrari it was! It is North Wales after all.

san marino blue
I realised about an hour ago the Wales weekend was on. Typical, but I am planning on keeping the Z for a fair while, at least until I can afford a GTR, so that's not happening soon. I am sure we'll meet up at a bash. I am glad you're enjoying yourself here We have some great roads designed for bikers and Z owners Watch out for the bill though, very keen on action photography in these parts

san marino blue
Hello, All seems ok now. Without jinxing things I am shaking her down ready for France now Oil pressure never drops below 25+psi even after a thrashing and hot, on low idle It was about 3psi, peaking at 50psi when cold and rev'd Peaks at 120psi now with just a blip of the throttle Motor sounds sweet as and the oil is still like golden syrup after about 1000miles My ECL is staying off, so happy all's well I am going to do another oil change soon, as I am running Asda synthetic at the moment just to flush everything out. It's doing the job, but will change to a good branded oil Any recommendations on oil for the HR engine? I hear the exhaust VVT can play up even with the correct SAE, but different viscosity? Next job is a stainless exhaust system, after we get back from France I live in Dolgarrog, by the way, tiny little place about 6 miles out of Conwy You could say, "I am the only 350z in the village!!!! " Thanks all for the warm welcomes
