Chris Z
Hey all Im a new 350z owner, 2009. The car has a noise that is really only noticeable whilst accelerating in 1st & 2nd gear - its like a winding up whine, almost like an electric motor... quite loud, its really hard to explain. I have searched and see people posting about a noise which I guess might be similar saying its transmission problem and some saying thats just a normal noise for a 350. I have it booked in with Nissan next week for a health check but was hoping someone might be able to give me an opinion on this and what it might be? Thanks in advance! Vlad
And I wouldn't take it to Nissan... Post where you located and I'm sure people will suggest a decent garage to take it to
ZEUS
As Vlad said I wouldn't bother with Nissan. Take it to somewhere who knows 350s, plenty of places on here depending where you are in the country.

DP7657
Is this a fairly quiet but high pitch humming type of noise? Coming from right behind you? If so - I forgot exactly what this was but my Z has made a high pitch whir / whine / hum (fairly quiet but you can always hear it when going slow if you listen out for it) ever since I first got it. I too was worried at first, but 3 years down the line I now know the Z makes loads of clanks etc that are all perfect normal...character... Good luck! Zeezeebaba
My rear diff whined a little and quietened down noticeably once the fluid was changed. I also had a high pitched whine when the car was cold but again since changing the oils in the engine and gearbox it's been fine.
