Commander
These are getting pretty cheap now and I'm getting bored of my 350HR. What's the main differences with face lifts, special editions, trim levels, manual vs auto, etc? And is the ride quality any better? The car is more refined as a whole though. One point to note is you will want an exhaust of some sort as it sounds more like a 3 cylinder than a V6 as standard. RobPhoboS
If you're 'bored' of the 350 - why don't you try another car, surely the 370 isn't THAT vastly different ?
Commander
~17k doesn't get you much else that's fun. (I don't fit in a boxster, never tried a cayman and don't much fancy a high miler) Suggestions?

(I don't fit in a boxster, never tried a cayman and don't much fancy a high miler) Suggestions? Agree with both these points. It isn't 2X 'better' than a 50 but nothing else is in that price point too. You need 22-25k for a decent 997 S which is what I would call the next level. NWZ
It's the living quarters that sets the 370z world apart from the 350z, looks wise and colour choices I think the 350z wins. And I find the 370z handles miles better than the 350z (stock), with the tyres being wider you can cain it around a sweeping motorway bend no problem. And yes £16 - £17k for a 5 year old GT is brilliant VFM, all my mates think mine is amazing VFM considering what it cost originally.
RS8055
From what I've heard, Caymans are pretty damn good. Never tried one myself, but I'd say that's a good bet! (Despite this, I personally do not like anything from Porsche)

Test drove all of these bar the Corvette and charged S2k when I went between the 50 and 70. 996 was an awful place to sit, TVR was out for me as a DD for obvious reasons, Z4M was nice but the 70 was just as nice and for the same price was 3 years/30k newer. hensh65
M5? M3? Evo X? different type of cars but I would consider them for that money.
brillomaster
does that budget stretch to an early M6? if not then do what im doing, remapped BMW 335i!
Commander
Decent power, RWD, DD is the requirement. I'm also about 6ft 4 and I don't fit in small things; Boxster and S2K I know I don't fit it in, for example. 335 is interesting, diesel and petrol, but I'll only end up wishing I bought an E90 M3... but they're still a bit expensive at the mo fwiw. Can probably get a cheap M5, and they are very tempting, but I'm petrified about the maintenance costs, lol. Won't stretch to an M6
brillomaster
a 335i certainly ticks the power, RWD and DD boxes - but it wouldn't feel that special compared to more specialist machinery. after all its only a 3 series! a mid 2000s M5/M6 would be a great car if you could stretch to it - yes the servicing costs would be high, but how else would you get a V10? actually, talking of V10s, slightly leftfield but an Audi S8? not once have you mentioned 'sporty' as a requirement... closest you've come was 'fun' but comfort and space have been mentioned... I think a 440bhp V10 would still count as 'fun'...

NWZ
I've been a passenger in a 2015 Porsche Boxter, I wasn't that impressed, think the tyre noise was just as bad as the 370z. It was my bosses as his 911 was in for a service, he had the roof down. We pulled up at lights and a builder in a van wolf whistled at us....say no more!

The car is more refined as a whole though. One point to note is you will want an exhaust of some sort as it sounds more like a 3 cylinder than a V6 as standard. You missed one important thing - handling on the Nismo is substantially improved (speaking from experience - much more poised around the corners etc.) OP - you can't really go wrong with anything from a GT onwards in my view. I wouldn't suggest the non GT (very very few of those anyway) and you might want to go for 2010+ to get the better sat nav, but apart from that just find a well cared for one you like the look of and that's within your budget.

Will370z
Yup definitely have to agree with the handling improvements on the nismo, very impressive. I thought the roadster was stiff and flat around corners but the nismo was in another league.

They are all a lot of car for the money, with added rarity appeal. Edited May 12, 2015 by sipar69
formatzero
If your tempted to go boxster/cayman route go 2009 on as the earlier cars had layshaft problem that is well documented and expensive.Have looked at the 335 etc bm,s myself but there is simply no drama to there looks. Why not try a Supra TT with bpu around 400bhp and reliable if well looked after,or if you fancy scaring yourself a single turbo with 500bhp upwards.
