Garyt350z
Hey, I would class myself as a DIY mechanic but need advice on a wee upgrade am thinking! Can I replace my stock power steering cooler/rad with a mishimoto universal oil cooler/rad? Doesn't specify powersteering tho but it has a pressure levels and cacapacity, any of which I need to adhere to when using it for powersteering system or do just fill the reservoir to prefer level? GT4 Zed
Which mishimoto cooler? You can and should consider upgrading the PAS cooler especially if you do have larger front tyres than stock, do heavy track days or drifting. But you don't a very large cooler that will cause a larger pressure drop and also overwork the pump. I went for the nismo cooler which is plug and play. Garyt350z
I was thinking a 10row or 19row one? Do they need to follow the same format as the existing one (a U pipe with fins surrounding) or can it be an open fill rad? Do u thinking either of them 2 would do? Also, are oil coolers/rads generally like an engine rad or are they plumbed on the inside thru a maize of pipes?
GT4 Zed
19 row is too big! That's what I have for my engine oil cooler. Tube and fin designs are better for minimal pressure drop but a bar and fin design will work too just like the stillen but should not be too big. I guess a small 10 row will be fine. Like I said before there's no need to change for change sake. A thermostatic engine oil cooler kit will be a better investment if you just do fast road driving. See below a few of the popular kits you can copy or buy. https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=3073 https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=692 https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=
Toon Chris
Or use 2 old Z ones in series That's cheap.
Garyt350z
Great info here guys, really answered all of my questions and doubts! Am changing cause a badge came again mine and therefore is shot, but I was thinking I could bling up the lower grill with a nice silver piece of kit behind it! Hence the question would a 10 row mishimoto work without compromising steering or straining any other components! never owned a turbo car but crave the intercooler look
