Hi everyone.

Im soon going to be in the market for a 350z and im just wondering what would be required to get the 350 up for 350BHP?

How expensive would it be?

I love modifying my cars and making them more unique so would love to learn more about the 350 and what can be done to it.

cheers

To get a 350z there, unless its an HR, you are looking at lots of money, probably above 10k easily.

The HR, a couple have made around 340ish on the dyno but those are few and far between.

First question, what car are you looking to buy (year, engine)?

Second question, how deep is your wallet going to be for mods?

As above, forced induction is really the only cost effective option for any real gains.

On a stock engine, with supporting mods you can safely run 400-450bhp.

To be honest the money you would spend getting an N/A 350z to anything close to 350bhp, you could just buy the bolt on vortech supercharger kit without the need for supporting mods and run it at 350bhp on stock fuel system, Injectors etc...

Then when money allows add the supporting mods and start chasing the the numbers.

As said above , the most cost effective way is buying one already done but realistically your not going to find one .

Next option buy a early DE engine zed and supercharge it . The latter HR engines although stronger and more bhp to begin with are a lot more expensive to charge due to the twin throttle body set up .

thanks for all the advice guys. Id be keep to supercharge or turbo charge a engine. I dont really have deep pockets to be honest, i tend to do most of the work on my cars myself to save on labour costs, but i understand things like this will need specialist attention.

thanks, keep the advice coming tho,

has anyone ever had any experience with a silvia and can compare it to the 350z? Only other car id be tempted to get would be another silvia. they are so easy to mod and rather cheap as well.

You may get to around that figure with long tube headers, cams, porting and polishing but the cost will be just as prohibitive as going fi.

If you want an easy 350hp, its going to have be something thats already got forced induction :)

If you can work on cars and use spanners, you can fit a vortech to a zed. There are plenty of threads on here where people have fitted their own with pics and descriptions. The basic kit is pretty much bolt on.

yeah im pretty handy with a spanner, and as it will be a weekend toy i wont mind it being off the road during the week and working on it just as and when.

ill do some research into the vortech kits.

cheers sam, ill take a look.

already done a little bit of research on it last night, it does look very good from what iv read and seen. would i be worth me buying a early model 350z for cheaper then putting the money towards the vortech, or is it worth putting more money into buying a newer model 350z, as in 2006? compared to 2004?

cheers

If you go 2006 Revup the vortech backing plate is different to that of pre 2006. You can buy used Revup vortech kits, but they are rare.

You can still buy new with either setup. If you can get a low mileage pre 2006 car that's where my money would be.

Im the Chairman of the owners club, what do you want to know? Cheaper to get to decent power and will nearly always be faster in a straight line but the Z handles better and has a more grunty engine, best bet is to take one for a rip and see what you think.

There are other options that Ive become aware of recently, specific long headers and work on the inlet manifold that might see 350hp with a map, but youll have spent more than a supercharger to get there so maybe not the way forward :)

hi everyone, thanks very much for the feedback regarding this. the only reason i want to know about this as iv had s14a a few years ago which was very cheap to get it to 300bhp and was a great fun. but i do prefer the look of the 350z and i didnt really like the turbo lag i had in the s14 which is why im really keen on the 3.5v6 and even with a turbo or supercharge the displacment will handle this well, alot better than the sr20 motor any ways,

what im really looking for is a car i use on weekend and on track days, just a fun toy that can handle 400bhp pretty easily and isnt going to cost the world to run, maintain. car much be very grunty, handle very well, and have the feeling like you are in a race car.

Im sure this is what everyone also wants, i do think ill have to go out for a spin in 350z to make my final decision.

cheers
