WhackyWill
If you're going to buy a Mini 0801/0803/0805/0806 get it from JooVuu. UK based and warranty https://www.joovuu.c...ion-car-cameras I had to send 2 back as they were buggered but I got replacements within days, not weeks if they were going back to China like most other sellers. Thanks Mate. I see there is a 0806 out now. https://www.joovuu.com/gb/home/245-mini-0806.html
Piranha
I recently installed a Braun Champion action cam, £90 off amazon. http://www.braun-phototechnik.de/en/products/detail/~id.1034/BRAUN-Champion-Full-HD-Action-Cam.html It's a cheaper version of a go pro, works well but does not record speed and location, which is ok for me.

I'd honestly recommend the 0806

techinstaller
Just to clear up the taxi bashing lol you will see some suckers on the window but glrnet is bang on the money it is illegal to fix within the sweep area of the glass and will fail the MOT and in the case of a TAXI the VST test also .but as allways there is a hole in the legislation if you fix the sat nav / PDA/ Dash cam sucker to the dash or a flat sucker disc which is stuck to the dash then they cant do a thing about it .Its a mad world.

Indeed, many of the suction pad holder manufacturers now supply a dashboard sticky pad so that they are seen to stay on the "right side" of the law. cs2000
I have an older version of those 0801/6 camera. Essentially the same but without GPS and the LCD. Quality isn't too bad during the day but lacks at night time. The camera fits perfectly behind the rear view mirror. Thing I actually stick it to the windscreen but cant remember and car is parked in the car park. Only just about peeks out from the side so I have access to the buttons if need and its hooked up to a LCD in the cubby hole I bought from eBay and custom fabbed a surround for out of Polymorph plastic.
sipar69
I ended up getting the Nextbase 402g after quite a bit of research. It's not the smallest camera but works really well.
Floydbax
Been looking around for a reasonable camera for the car came across this one, sounds good for the money, anybody on here got one.. ? http://www.amazon.co...rds=YHHao SC310 I have that exact cam, seems to work OK. I have it on the rear glass partition in my 'vert, takes some pretty decent rolling footage too
PiGFoetus
I'm still trying to decide on a good dash cam, anybody got any experience of this one ? It looks about the best you can get for under £100 ? http://www.amazon.co...4ND4DGAQ6DUF6ZE I bought this model about 2 months ago and all in all, I'm reasonably happy with it. The quality at high definition is pretty good, less so in lower light conditions. If you want crystal clear number plate definition when moving, then it's a bit ropey for oncoming traffic, but reasonably good for the car in front, as there is a fair bit of pixellation. I have the model with inbuilt memory or an sd card and have tried all the different resolution options to much the same effect tbh. It attaches with an adhesive pad and I have it installed just behind the rear view mirror and the view from there is pretty good. I've routed the cables using cable guides down around the windscreen to the passenger side power point, which works ok, but probably better if you could engineer it to power from behind the dash. Some downsides are: My model, when switched to mph recording, displays in kph (with mph in text behind it). There is a firmware fix for this, but it's a case of getting the exact firmware flash (of which there seem to be many) and you risk bricking it if you get the wrong one. Hence I've not done this yet. But is is slightly disturbing when is logs you doing nearly 50 through town in a 30 zone, so its reliability as evidence would need additional explanation if this isn't fixed. There's a slight smudge in the top right of the view, which is internal to the camera somewhere, but whether the lens or ccd is at fault I can't tell. It's not bad enough to be too obtrusive though. The viewing software that comes with it is ropey with the graphs of velocity printing outside the view window taking over the right hand of the screen. I could upload some footage to youtube if you're interested, but I suspect it may be downsized. Not really used youtube much, so can't say for sure.
