gumpy000
Hey peeps. I haven't researched this exactly as I know I can trust this site. So haven't noticed this before but driving home from work and noticed my oil pressure psi was basically in the middle. Rise when I put my put down and lowered when off the gas. But.. but battery volts were near the top?? Is this normal? What should both be? Cheers.
AMT
psi to roughly check should be 60 at 60mph and as for the battery voltage, it'll sit at 14 when driving about with all the other electric stuff on. What do you mean near the top, what figure is it sitting at? Edited March 21, 2015 by AMT
gumpy000
So the volts are just before 16.

What is the psi reading with the ignition on without starting the engine, it should be zero before you start it. My psi reading started going like that when the sensor started playing up, now I turn the ignition on and I get full deflection before starting the engine. Was a real worry when it first did it, still need to replace the sensor. Volts should be 14 or thereabouts.
gumpy000
So it could be fine then. Lol. Just haven't noticed it being like that before. But then again. Haven't paid too much attention to it I guess. Cheers tho. Il check psi tomo.
TimC
So the volts are just before 16. I think I am right in saying the volt meter measures output of the alternator, so a high reading may point to something with alternator maybe.II'm sure others will know more about that than me. PSI may be nothing to worry about other than sensor, mine went to full deflection in the morning after it was about half way the night before. KyleR
All sounds perfectly normal to me
AMT
Not so sure it should be sitting just below the 16V, but some more experience folk on here will hopefully let you know but it generally should be 14V or fairly near it I'm pretty sure. gumpy000
Ok so psi seems fine. Doesn't move until engine starts then as u said it was around 60 at 60 mph. The volts are constantly sat at 15. Good ey?
