kidofthe80s
Evening Fellow Z'ers Picked up my Silver Z 2005 (69k) under 2 weeks ago and I've had an absolutely fantastic time driving it. We've done couple long runs up and down the M4 / M20 and its been a dream to drive - I've had constant smile on my face ! However with any used car I've purchase in the past, I've always taken into the local garage/dealership for a service, in this case a P1, which I had this morning. Pick up the car late this afternoon, wasn't expecting much...however they came back with the following advisories (see attached image). Forget about the window washer - front window washer is working fine now...rear one is dead. Apparently washer hoses where swapped around ?! Questions I have for fellow members on the forum to comment on : - What are members views / comments on the prices quoted by the dealership ? Fair ? Rip off ? - Between the shocks and the bushes which do you suggest I get done sooner rather than later ? - Can any members recommend a trusted garage / technician to do the work in my area - Bromley area (BR7 / BR1)? Would appreciate any feedback / comments before I whip out my debit card out, again, fork out £1600 ! Feeling a bit deflated after the service. Thanks in advance, Raymond
jimboy2
I think I was quoted about half that for the bushes but can't remember. Give a specialist a shout and see what they can do. Not sure who you have near you
blaqkaudio
I'm no expert but I would agree with the graph and say sort that leaking shock absorber asap. Then again anything listed there just get it all sorted, can't imagine the replacement bushes being too much. In regards to where you are I'm not sure on local specialists but I can highly advise Kaizor Motors, Google Maps says your around 45mins away from him, up to you whether you think it's worth the drive? I know others on here travel more than an hour to get to him I was there yesterday to get my P3 service done on the Zed, definitely knows his stuff, very professional and trustworthy, happy leaving my car with someone who knows what they're doing ...and when you say comment on the pricing the only number I see here is £1600! What is that for? The cost of the P1 or the cost to fix those issues after the P1 evaluation? Either way that's pretty high unless I have missed something after a long day at work? Hope that helps you buddy Edited March 9, 2015 by blaqkaudio
biggles
I was quoted about the same for one of the arms where the bush was starting to split. My quote was for a new arm and not to replace the bush so I would hope yours is too! I think the bushes can be replaced (Clark Motorsport sells them) so just need to find a garage able to remove and fit.
MITZ@CougarStore
We can supply superpro bushes to remedy the issue, drop us a message if we can help...

kidofthe80s
Thanks all for your comments so far....much appreciated... Any ideas how much replacements for both front and rear lower arms parts bushes may cost ? Any other members who might be able to recommend a respectable and trusted garage in the Bromley area ? JEMAN
I would shop around for sure ! All the best
RobPhoboS
Far too expensive (imho), why didn't you take it to one of the vetted garages on here ? You aren't far off from Abbey or Kaizer Loads of the traders on here sell bushings OEM or far better than crappy rubber that'll deteriorate, polyurethane (Superpro, whiteline, Prothane etc etc). In fact I have that much respect for his work that I feel there will come a point when I will probably entrust him with anything that needs doing the AMG. Yes, given what I see in those advisories I am sure Sly (Kaizer) would not only resolve the issues but I wouldn't mind betting his prices would more than compensate for having to travel the extra miles. Yes there are others out that would no doubt also do a very sound job, but that ^^^^^ is the benefit of my experience after 9 years of ZED ownership.
KUGT4
For reference - bought oem compression bushes and had them fitted by Nissan dealer for around £180 in total
KyleR
Is there anything wrong with your washer jets? You could probably get a 2nd hand shock for £30 off someone on here who has upgraded to coilovers. The price of replaces the 2 arms is a joke, always has been and always will be. Talk to ^^ Mitz ^^ and he'll sort you out for about 10% of the quoted price.
chrisday1990
Personally I would not go to a Nissan dealer if that's what you have done.
Toon Chris
An after-market washer pump is £20-£30, try Clarke Motorsports. they are not so hard to fit but I was lazy and had mine done by the garage when they had the undertray off an it took them a few minutes. Blockages are usually the non-return valve. Have a search, that's the easiest diy fix.
chrisday1990
I had my cooling fans fail, Nissan wanted £800 for a new fan cassette and £250 to install. My Nissan is the first car I have gotten my hands dirty with and has been very rewarding. I obtained new fan motors for £50..... Them installed myself so you do the maths. Like the above just do some homework and it's very rewarding in the end. If you get the parts yourself and find a good independent then your already looking at half the costs
jimmy1280
Never use a main dealer for anything I've been a member on here for 6 months now and the independents on here offer great advice and support for any issue or upgrade you want to do, personally I do all the work myself, so far I've used Cougar Store, Clarks Motorsport and Tarmac for my parts and they have all been brilliant. kidofthe80s
Morning All... Thanks again for all your comments and feedback...really great ! 8) With regards to the front and rear washer jets...I took at look them before I took the car in for a service...rear one working, front one not working. I checked the non return valve (as per the advice) on the forum and it was all good. Just nothing coming from the washer pipe to the non return valve....however I can still hear the pump working. It wasn't until after the service that I was advise that the rear and front washer hoses had been reversed !?!. So the technician reversed them so I now have a working front washers and nothing in the rear. Question : Is there a separate washer pump for front and rear washers or do them feed of the one pump ? My assumptions are - Pump delivering fluid to rear washer has failed. - Blockage at the pump outlet delivering fluid to the rear washer. - Blocking in the pipework delivering fluid to the rear washer. Any ideas... Thanks for the advice around respected garages - will give Kazier and Abbey a call ? Looking at where Kazier are based...they are about a 40mins drive from me. What do folks normally do...drop the car with them and stay on site ? As doesn't seem much around their neck of the woods...
Keyser
That's expensive imho, Harryjax and I did a set of front bushes on his lads xar at the weekend see - http://www.350z-uk.c...95747-zed-shed/ Admittedly I have a press and no labour charge but that came out at about £100 for the parts and they were upgraded whitleine bushes. Try Zmanalex for a pre-owned washer pump - the 2 are different front and rear, if the under tray is off it is a 5 minute job to swap over. As above blockage is usually the non return valve - run a drill through it is a quick fix, you can get a replacement of eBay for a couple of quid. Shock - which you should do ASAP - get a pre-owned (should get a pair) for a few quid or at those prices a full set of aftermarket is an option EDIT: - yes mate 2 separate pumps for front and rear - defo sounds like the rear has gone - the pumps have a different fitment so be sure to get the right one you cant swap them over Edited March 10, 2015 by Keyser
SteveM
what papa smurf said....
