Hey all,

Ive a set of rota gtr alloys on the car and while trying to remove the nuts the key has snapped. Im unsure of the make i think they may be rota nuts.

Ive tried to attach pics of the nuts and snapped key but my phones pic is too big.

Do i get a whole new set from rota and hope the key fits these old ones or does someone have a key i could buy im kinda screwed as i cant tighten the wheel up now :(

Any help is much appreciated

For uploading pictures on here you really are best off using Photobucket.

Usually the locking wheel nut keys are specific to the set you have so you really need to know the set you have to source a replacement in most cases.

If you need a new set of locking wheel nuts &/or key then there are traders on here that may be able to help you out. Like Mitz@the Cougar Store or Chris@ Tarmac Sportz.

Do you have anything in the cars history like a receipt for the locking wheel nuts or old packaging? If you do it may tell you a serial number for the key in order to get the correct replacement.

Not a lot of help I know sorry but it's something. I'd try a PM to Mitz at the Cougar Store to see if he can advise you better. ;)

Ok Jay I've just been out to my Zed which also has Rota alloys on & have taken some pictures for you.

Here are the locking wheel nuts I have...

This is the locking wheel nut key...

Same as yours?

Mine are made by Rare Rims. Link: http://www.rarerims.co.uk/wheelshop_tyres_range.asp?id=24

Also mine where supplied by Mitz from the Cougar Store so if yours are the same you're best off contacting either Mitz at the Cougar Store or Rare rims, both of whom are traders on here.

If yours aren't the same then you really need to find some documents on the make/serial number for anyone to be able to help you get the key I'm afraid or maybe try a "Gator socket" to allow you to tighten/remove all the locking wheel nuts so you can replace them with a new set.

Hope that's some help at least.

Those wheels look like they have been on for ages!

You will need to get the old ones removed at a garage or using a nut removal socket.

Then just buy some new ones :)

Click the "direct link" in the share options next to the picture on Photobucket and it will show on here like this once you post the URL into the "image box" in the "reply to this topic" box on the forum. ;)

Look the same as mine tbh but just in silver instead of the black ones I have. I'd bet they are Rare Rims locking wheel nuts. ;)

Do these definitely work bud? If so ill get one and order a new set.

Yes very useful, removed a complete set of locking wheel nuts from my Sons Golf

when the key got lost. I soaked them in WD40 first, as they were a bit like yours.

make sure you get the right size one as there is also a 1/2 drive one.

They seem less spaced out than yours gm the grooves are half the size.

Well they would look slightly different otherwise my locking key would work on yours and I could just pinch your alloys. ;):D

Good luck with it Jay and let us know the outcome.
