Jay M1988
Hey all, Ive a set of rota gtr alloys on the car and while trying to remove the nuts the key has snapped. Im unsure of the make i think they may be rota nuts. Ive tried to attach pics of the nuts and snapped key but my phones pic is too big. Do i get a whole new set from rota and hope the key fits these old ones or does someone have a key i could buy im kinda screwed as i cant tighten the wheel up now Any help is much appreciated
Jay M1988
Similar to these but smaller and are open ended so you can see the bolt coming through.
GMballistic
For uploading pictures on here you really are best off using Photobucket. Link (free to join & use): http://s273.photobucket.com/ Guide on how to post Photobucket pictures on here: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/53047-how-to-post-pictures-via-photobucket/ Usually the locking wheel nut keys are specific to the set you have so you really need to know the set you have to source a replacement in most cases. If you need a new set of locking wheel nuts &/or key then there are traders on here that may be able to help you out. Like Mitz@the Cougar Store or Chris@ Tarmac Sportz. Do you have anything in the cars history like a receipt for the locking wheel nuts or old packaging? If you do it may tell you a serial number for the key in order to get the correct replacement. Not a lot of help I know sorry but it's something. I'd try a PM to Mitz at the Cougar Store to see if he can advise you better.
Jay M1988
Thankyou mate theyre similar to these same size but they have the pattern of the bigger ones
GMballistic
Ok Jay I've just been out to my Zed which also has Rota alloys on & have taken some pictures for you. Here are the locking wheel nuts I have... This is the locking wheel nut key... Same as yours? Mine are made by Rare Rims. Link: http://www.rarerims.co.uk/wheelshop_tyres_range.asp?id=24 Also mine where supplied by Mitz from the Cougar Store so if yours are the same you're best off contacting either Mitz at the Cougar Store or Rare rims, both of whom are traders on here. Link to Mitz: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/94-cougar-store/ Link to Rare Rims: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/100-rarerims/ If yours aren't the same then you really need to find some documents on the make/serial number for anyone to be able to help you get the key I'm afraid or maybe try a "Gator socket" to allow you to tighten/remove all the locking wheel nuts so you can replace them with a new set. 370Ad
Those wheels look like they have been on for ages! You will need to get the old ones removed at a garage or using a nut removal socket. Then just buy some new ones Edited March 8, 2015 by 370Ad
GMballistic
Click the "direct link" in the share options next to the picture on Photobucket and it will show on here like this once you post the URL into the "image box" in the "reply to this topic" box on the forum. Look the same as mine tbh but just in silver instead of the black ones I have. I'd bet they are Rare Rims locking wheel nuts.
MITZ@CougarStore
Jay, any serial numbers on the key...
GMballistic
Contact Mitz as I said or Rare Rims and link them to this thread, ...maybe they can help then in getting you a new key. Also I'd agree with 370Ad, ...once they're off just bin them and buy a new set.

WhackyWill
Do these definitely work bud? If so ill get one and order a new set. Yes very useful, removed a complete set of locking wheel nuts from my Sons Golf when the key got lost. I soaked them in WD40 first, as they were a bit like yours. make sure you get the right size one as there is also a 1/2 drive one.
Jay M1988
They seem less spaced out than yours gm the grooves are half the size. So this is the best bet then i guess get these buggers off!

Ekona
This is why locking wheel nuts are generally a bad idea these days, unless you have £5k worth of wheel on. Even if you do, if someone really wants them...
GMballistic
They seem less spaced out than yours gm the grooves are half the size. Well they would look slightly different otherwise my locking key would work on yours and I could just pinch your alloys. Good luck with it Jay and let us know the outcome.
