Craigy_87
Checking my oil this afternoon, I noticed the dipstick wouldn't go back in place easily. I know there a pain in the arse but I can usually get it no bother but I've noticed that the rubber seal at the top of the stick has split an when trying to put it back in the hole it's just bunching up stopping it from going in. Is the only solution to get a new dipstick? Thanks Craig
ZMANALEX
Afraid so Craig. Pre owned in stock if required. Alex.
GMballistic
Just get another one from Alex and that'll sort the problem Craig.
ilogikal1
Is the only solution to get a new dipstick? Not all, I could come up with several solutions... ... it is probably the only sensible solution though.
Craigy_87
I managed to trim the bit that was torn an got the dipstick back in place seems alright but I went ahead an bought a new one anyway
WhackyWill
Use a torch when you dip your dipstick. So you can be sure you can get it into the right hole.
Mudman
twist as well and pull back slightly to make sure there is pressure holding it in. I speak from experience - has a loose one and had a smoking engine and oils all down the nearside as a result
Craigy_87
Yeah I've moved it about to see if it comes loose easily seems the same as usual but I'm keeping my eye on it I've drove a few miles since it happened all seems ok just waiting a couple of days till the new one is delivered
