rasco
Hi All, Will shortly be purchasing a Z and first thing I'll be doing is changing the rear bumper for (ideally) a chargespeed rep, or alternatively a JDM standard bumper. I'd love some advice on where to go in the south of England to get a rep bumper fitted & sprayed, with a rough idea of the cost I should expect to pay for a match to Azure (apparently difficult to paint match, so needs lots of blending?). I spoke to my local paint guy, who said he's fitted fibreglass before and wont touch it again, so should I be looking for FRP or plastic alternatives.... I'd love the RT-Performance chargespeed rep bumper (fibreglass), but have been told by a reputable company that it'd cost £690 + VAT to fit, paint & blend to rear quarters & bootlid. Having never had such extensive paint work done to a car before, is this the normal kind of price to expect to pay, and should I just go for fibreglass because it's on the rear and not the front? Ta guys, and sorry if I've asked something obvious!
mouthwash
Bodywork is expensive down south unfortunately, I can never get near the prices that people seem to quote on here for spraying etc.
rasco
yeah I've had a bonnet re-spray (bonnet was keyed ) done in the past from a local guy who was very reasonable (I paid £180 a few years back) and it was a top job, whereas other places said they wouldn't do it without doing a full front-end spray at a HUGE cost. He even pointed out where the car had been sprayed before (around the arches) - which I knew about but thought it was blended well, but he immediately pointed it out and slated the job (I knew at that point I'd found the right guy!). Would take the Z to him in a heartbeat but when I contacted him for a quote he said he'll never touch fibreglass again... not a fan! So the other (much cheaper) option would be to buy a JDM bumper and get him to spray it, but I LOVE the CS bumper...... there's an ING-S rear bumper advertised on ebay (141143461629) that is advertised as Fibre Reinforced Plastic. Is there much (if any) difference? Or is it the same thing?
Pritchard
there's an ING-S rear bumper advertised on ebay (141143461629) that is advertised as Fibre Reinforced Plastic. Is there much (if any) difference? Or is it the same thing? Thats the rear bumper i have fitted. (different diffuser though, looking at the ebay link). i couldnt tell you the difference in fitting ability between the materials. but i had RT-P fit mine, and they were quite chuffed with the ING fit (the rest of the kit wasnt quite so easy). its a very flexible material though. it bends and curves when i wash it with a sponge. lots of pics here if you want to see it fitted. http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/93252-the-pumpkin-3-month-sprint-build-sprint-complete/

Payco
Contact Taras at RT through this forum for a price to supply paint and fit the chargespeed. Not for me to quote prices on behalf of RT but not sure that estimate of cost you have been given is right. Couple of photos of mine to wet your appetite. First one is before I had the ARK exhaust fitted at which point RT hacked out the diffuser for me.
rasco
didn't want to say on the forum but that price *may* have come from RT. Apparently Azure is really hard to match, so needs blending into rear quarters and boot, which raises cost quite a bit....
rasco
and funnily enough Payco, a couple of months back I saved several photos of YOUR car as it's exactly what I'd want to do to my future Azure Z. I think your car looks amazing. Good choices all round!
mouthwash
TGM are worth a call, not quite sure where you're located.

mouthwash
I've heard Super 7 Are pretty good.. Their bodywork is actually pretty good although pricey (£40p/h but they make things take a long time)

Apparently Azure is really hard to match, so needs blending into rear quarters and boot, which raises cost quite a bit.... I've seen Azure cars resprayed using the exact paint code as detailed by nissan at some really decent bodyshops and they come out with slight differences. I think RT performance might have had the same issue before hence why they're saying to blend? The blending is 100% necessary for a decent look as it's such a temperamental colour (Although a lovely one!). They resprayed Wasso's car and it looks lovely, if you do a search for Wasso and RT Performance the in progress pictures and finished job should come up
rasco
Yeah I have no doubts that RT is the place to go for a decent job (I'm not too far from London anyway) but quite costly. Still, you get what you pay for!
mouthwash
As I said, give TGM a call... They resprayed the front of my integra (bonnet, wings, bumper) a few years ago and done a pretty decent job for about £600.
