KosmiK
I always knew my exhaust was loud but I guess now its official. Do the other 2 just refer to the battery and brake fluid cover and the under tray? Didn't think they'd get an advisory. Doesn't everyone have them? On the plus side I caught the whole thing on my new dash cam. So no funny business.

GIXXERUK
odd, it seems they are just covering themselves, I get the noisy exhaust comment every year on my bike and they are just making a point that they haven't removed the covers to check the components behind them
Flex
Certainly different!
Ebized
The components being covered is something I also had on our Mazda's MOT that was done yesterday - expect it is some (obvious) safeguard for the tester should something occur post the MOT, which is out of sight and could not be checked without dismantling. jimboy2
It's exactly that. It's to cover their ass. Don't think they are supposed to remove engine covers and undertrays on a MOT. the exhaust thing is funny tho!
ilogikal1
It's exactly that. It's to cover their ass. Don't think they are supposed to remove engine covers and undertrays on a MOT. the exhaust thing is funny tho! That. MOT testers aren't permitted to remove parts during the test (hence why a garage will fail a car, repair it and then retest if they've been told to fix anything causing failure rather than just doing it as they come across issues), so the tester is just covering himself for bit he can't visibly check. The exhaust could well be a similar thing as exhausts aren't allowed/supposed to be louder than when the car left the factory... or something like that. ETA; the exhaust volume isn't an MOT failure but technically and particular anal police officer could take exception to it if you were hugely unfortunate. KosmiK
I suppose they make sense. No mention of these sort of things on any of the previous MOT's. Guess it just comes down to the tester. The first one did crack me up though.

Ekona
I had an advisory for passenger seat missing on the MR2
Humpy
I have always used the same garage but the last MOT they had put down undertray obscuring underside components. A new thing for MOT testers perhaps?

GreenLandy
ha, quality. Mine has noisy exhaust too - but it is a bit ridiculous. The other two are just some tard at the garage being pedantic and stating the obvious
ioneabee
are those last 2 real - I sooooo hope so
Jeff E
My race TR7V8 failed scrutineering because the exhaust was too loud. My road TR7V8, much noisier , passed its MOT no comment. Brands Hatch stricter than for M25 weird !!!
gsexr
Cant blame the tester for covering himself, its just a sign of the world we live in today.
Rock_Steady
I like the exhaust comment. I've had a few since fitting the cobra and berks: Cambridgeshire constabulary: "Utterly ridiculous" The wife "Wholly unnecessary" The neighbour "Patently anti-social"

coldel
My VX220 had advisory 002 for every MoT it had - the car is completely covered underneath from the factory!

Jetpilot
the exhaust volume isn't an MOT failure It Is actually, but you would have to find a pretty officious tester to want to fail you. http://www.mot-test.net/mock-test/exhaust-system/
