zebedy
Hope you can help me. The car this morning went into limp mode after approx 4 miles. Drove about 500m then kicked back in. My belts have been slipping the last couple of weeks and was due to change them this month after payday. When they slip, the noise would dissapear after a shortwhile, then after standing still, parked up, the same thing would happen again. But this morning she squeeked all the into work. Could this be the issue of the car going into limp mode?? If the belt is slipping on the alternator then no charge is being produced to the battery. Does the car sense this and drop into limp?? Ill be getting some gates from one of the dealers on here this week. thanks Edited February 23, 2015 by ZZZebady
Adrian@TORQEN
Any lights coming up? Can you read the errors codes?

Tricky-Ricky
I don't think you will find that no or low alternator output will trigger limp mode, that's reserved for engine some sensors, I would suspect that there is another issue causing it to drop into limp mode.
zebedy
ALL SORTED. One rough as hell alternator belt. shredded to bits but enough on to get me home.
350zedd
Was the knackered belt causing it to go into limp mode then?
Tricky-Ricky
Was the knackered belt causing it to go into limp mode then? I somehow doubt it...waits for "car gone into limp mode again" Battery symbol comes on if there is insufficient charge rate, and you will get a CEL if the power steering pump pressure is low, but neither will cause limp mode, in fact if PS pressure is low limp mode would make it worse, apart from the give away heavy steering.
zebedy
not sure. The belt had split length ways and wrapped itself around the pulley whilst the other other have as still operational. I drove home the 2 miles ok with now warning lights. Shes up on ramps now with the engine skid off ready for tonight. Managed to get the 2 GATES belts for 23 quid. Bargain.
