For sale is my wife's UK MR2 T-Bar, which she has owned for over 8yrs and has now decided its time to try something else. (this came about after I sold my MR2 and moved onto the Zed) She is looking for offers in the region of £1150

I have not put loads of pics in this ad, as there is a link in the blurb below to an extensive amount of photos. Hopefully the fully documented details will give someone an idea of how much has been spent on this MR2:

 

Toyota MR2 MkII T-bar (UK Model)

 

Legal Stuff:

 

First Reg: July 1992 – We have letters from DVLA & Toyota to prove date is pre CAT

 

Mileage: 136,252 (chassis mileage – see notes below on engine swap)

 

Colour: Super Red 5 (3PO) with Black Gloss Roof. The car went under a full professional restoration 25 March 2009 at a significant cost. All photos are available as proof.

 

MOT: 21st February 2016 – No advisories, and this has been the same for previous years, all certs available

 

 

INTERIOR:

Custom MR2 seats - recovered in black leather with red trim. At time of recover, both seats were fitted with “bum & back†heaters incorporating dual settings for comfort

Custom MR2 door cards – recovered in black leather with red stitching

Gaiters – Black “Kid leather†with red stitching

Momo Millennium steering wheel – GENUINE and not an eBay copy, no wear marks, in excellent condition

Chrome Sill Covers – These are the ones that fit on top of the existing Toyota plastic covers.

Dials – Electro Luminescent white dials with controller for brightness and selection of green or blue background

Windows – Rear window & quarters professionally tinted in Limo Black

Covers – Original Toyota T Bar covers

Lighting – Custom footwell and puddle LED lighting in red

 

 

EXTERIOR:

Engine Cover – At time of restoration NA cover was replaced with Turbo engine cover and weather shield

Lights Front – Fitted with Ray Brigg crystal clear headlights

Indicators – Fitted with Crystal lenses to front indicators/side lights

Lights Rear – Fitted with Rev 3 lights and centre panel & fitted with Star LED bulbs

Lip Spoiler – Fitted at time of restoration “Bomex UAD-180†lip spoiler

Brake Hoop – Fitted at time of restoration, export rear hoop incorporating 3rd brake light

Boot Mat – Genuine Toyota aftermarket boot liner

Front Mats – Genuine Toyota “Man in Dandism†front mats – showing signs of wear

Washer Jets – Replaced with genuine Toyota MR2 jets.

 

MECHANICAL:

Exhaust – Genuine Mongoose with decat in as new condition – fitted January 2012 (original receipt avail)

Induction – K&N 57i full induction kit (can of oil also available)

Shifter – Aftermarket roller bearings fitted. Rev 3 short shifter also fitted

Calliper’s – New “Big Red†replacement callipers fitted (JAE 2013) – Brake pads replaced at same time.

Sensor: - O2 sensor replaced mid 2014 by Woodsport

 

Running Gear:

Suspension – Eibach Pro springs -30mm

Strut Brace – Toyota turbo “X†strut brace powder coated in “Prismatic Blackâ€

Wheels – 17†Wolfrace Katana. These have been powder coated in “Prismatic Blackâ€

Wheel nuts – McGard locking wheel nuts with key

Centre Caps – Custom Toyota Centre caps created by “LikwidArt†3D Gel

Tyres - Falcon FK452 – Fronts: 215/40/17 Rears: 235/40/17

 

Misc. Info:

Alarm – Fitted with aftermarket alarm with remote central locking and electronic boot release. 2 controllers

Premium Sound System – This is the Toyota factory fitted premium system with sub-woofer.

Head Unit – Kenwood KDC-W3534

Relay – Power Steering control relay replaced with new genuine Toyota item

Battery – Replaced 17 Dec 2013 with Halfords Calcium Battery – 4 year warranty – Receipt supplied

Alternator – Replaced Dec 2013 with later revision alternator with higher output

Toolkit – Supplied with the original Toyota toolkit in its original bag

Strut – Engine lid fitted with a “TwosRUs†(USA) hydraulic strut

 

 

Documentation - There is a stack of receipts, service book, etc. This MR2 has wanted for nothing. Owned by a MR2 enthusiast who is a member of various MR2 forums.

 

All documents show what has been done to the car during its lifetime, even from the original owner, everything is well documented.

 

From the MOT certs and other documentation, you will see that the vehicle covered less than 2500 miles per year.

 

 

Notes: Engine swapped out for Revision 3 NA at 114,000 Miles (26 March 2011) Prior to fitting the engine was stripped down (pro garage) and all components checked. Engine had only covered circa 50,000

 

On engine change, the following were replaced with new items:

• Toyota Oil Pump

• Toyota Water Pump

• Toyota Cam Belt and Tensioner

• Toyota Forlife Coolant

• Rocker cover seals

• Spark Plugs

 

In addition the usual filters and fluids were changed to both engine & gearbox. Clutch was not replaced as this had only recently been done.

 

Engine bay has been extensively customised with the turbo weather shield being full “hydro-dipped†in Candy Apple Red carbon.

 

The same dipping has been carried out to other various elements of the engine bay. Custom exhaust heat shield powder coated in “Prismatic Blackâ€

 

Custom mirror stainless steel covers have been fitted to both the front and rear fuse box lids

 

The vehicle has been regularly serviced, with regular oil & filter changes, which were either carried out by Woodsport or owner.

 

There is a "LikWidArt" 3D Gel Scorpion on the bonnet (top drivers side) not everyone's taste, but a significant sum was spent on this. It can be easily removed if required. This was designed and installed by Rob from Likwidart.

 

The car runs and drives lovely. Having owned it for over 8yrs and loved every minute of it, I now fancy a change and have recently purchased a Honda Accord Type-R

 

Many of the MR2 forum members will recognise the car and know how well it’s been looked after in its lifetime. This MR2 has regularly appeared at various MR2 meets and events, including JAE for the last 7yrs.

 

As there will be no other MR2’s in the family, there will be a box of extensive various spares supplied along with the car.

 

We have an extensive amount of photos showing all areas of the car, this is to help anyone who is travelling any distance to get an idea of the car before spending out on travelling. The photos are in subject folders; Bodywork, Interior, Engine Bay, etc.

The Bad Bits (and they all have them):

There are a couple of spots of bubbling, 1 on each rear wheel arch. Fairly sure this is not rust but the paint bubbling as the previous repair was done in damp weather. Each piece is about the size of a 50p piece. (See pics below)

 

Where the sills were repaired and the guy that did it did not lay down any rubberised coating before spraying (Body Shultz) the damp has got under the paint and lift it in places. Ideally it needs brushing off, coating in Shultz then spraying to colour.

 

The aerial mast no longer goes up/down, although it does not affect radio reception. This just needs the mast kit which is about £20 off eBay, unfortunately due to work commitments I just don’t have the time to do it.

Thanks GMballistic,

 

Yep price is correct and yep lot of car for a little money. If I had the time to strip it I would double my money, but unfortunately these days work is a slave driver so I dont have the time. Wife has loved every minute of this car and in fact commented last night that she will really miss it, always got attention at the shows and every year the MOT guys comments on how good it is.
