Custom exhaust with bypass fitted thoughts?

I'm looking at getting a custom exhaust for the 370z.

The exhaust shop can do is a 'performance cat back system with twin 4†central exiting tailpipes and sound tailored to choice'.

I'm thinking about also getting a bypass fitted also as they will do it. It's controllable to be able to open/close partially something like 25%, 50% open/closed whatever way you see it.

not sure where it the thing goes at mo but will ask him some more questions before I go or no go it. Too far up front would just be too disturbing!

Anyone done it? good idea? bad idea? What to consider if i do go for it?

do it... exhaust bypass valves are cool. for the full effect, the exhaust with valve closed should be nice and refined, good amount of silencers and resonators.

 

then with bypass open, pretty much a straight through system with no silencing at all - it wont be a nice noise, but you want it to be LOUD!

I was thinking about this too after seeing this video..

 

 

Not zed related. But you get an idea about the bypass valve.

 

Am I right in thinking you may need multiple maps, and be able to change between maps to make the most out of the exhaust bypass valve?

I made my own exhaust when i owned a Mazda 3 MPS, and i used a QTP valve on mine. Open was straight through, and closed went through a large silencer.

 

If my 370z didnt already come with a custom exhaust, i would have made one for it too!
