Hmmm I'm sure you can swap sky channels around, as for bbc1 hd unfortunately you can't have a regional version as when the loca news comes on it switches to almost a test board. BBK 1 hd for me is sky 141. Give sky a call I think they can switch you to the northwest remotely. As for freeview my experience is you set your postcode and the box will lock the channels for that.... Not sure that's your problem though?!

As for rugby played in North Wales you are mainly correct, I know a couple of colleagues who's kids play rugby for clubs however it's much more of a hobby than oitright passion or as a potential career path.

I hated rugby as a school kid but then that was probably down to the sadistic PER teacher we had, that said my elder brother had the same PE teacher and loved rugby even playing for teams within the army. That explains his ears anyway

Anyway back to last nights game, as I said I like a good game and I thought England were in for a shocker but they picked it back up and Wales lost it. I think it maybe a closer 6N than we all thought as neither were exceptional IMO. But it made for a good close game.

Welcome back by the way Jetset :)

Great result last night, some exceptional perfmamces and a huge psychological advantage for the rest of the tournament and Rugby World Cup!

Off to the Rec now to watch round two; Bath vs Ospreys. Hopefully we wont miss our boys too much who I must add were very impressive last night. COYB :teeth:

There's the difference, in Cheshire (as it was when I lived there) it was all rugby, I went to Rock Ferry High School and all the other high schools in Birkenhead played rugby, no football at all. When I moved out to North Wales all the high schools played football exclusively.

England won't smash them, if they do win it'll be a bit of a result tbqh. Ireland for me this year.

I'm actually fairly confident that Wales will beat England on Friday... which judging by last experience means England are going to smash us. :(

Every time... every mother f'ing time. I think the Welsh players have some mental issue where they can't play well when they're confident. :(

Think Gatland is running out of ideas. The tactics that made Wales a firm neutrals favourite last RWC haven't changed that much and opposing coaches have got wiser. The Jamie Roberts battering ram approach is now too predictable, Alex Cuthbert got a yellow card but to be honest he wasn't missed as the ball never made it out to the wing when he was on the pitch. Liam Williams should have started and George North needs a few games on the bench to rediscover his hunger and mojo for the test team as he's not producing club form for country. I was sat near quite a few England fans and now the World Cup is a good as won according to them ! Anyway roll on the next games

Just goes to show what some enforced changes can do. I'm sure Brad Barritt (read battering ram also) would have played if he had been fit but I guarantee he wouldn't have scored the try Joseph did. Rugby always used to be about genius and unpredictabilty, maybe it's time for some coaches to revisit those ideas. Lancaster was forced to do so this weekend and look what he got, Gatland, on the other hand got what he didn't expect (not many others did either) by sticking with predicatability.

And they were saying in the press before the game that they'd acknowledged the predictability and everyone should expect something different this game... maybe they forgot to tell the players about the changes? Oh well, maybe they're keeping their secrets up their sleaves for the world cup (yeah right).

  • 4 weeks later...

Games over the weekend werent too bad :)

Wales V France - well glad Wales got there set stuff sorted, scrum, lineout and restarts looked a lot better. The gameplay and tactics are now over done, they need some sort of spark. They have completely lost the flare that rugby is supposed to have and just rely on size and POWER..... which is obviously not working very well.

Ireland V England - well so much for England having the RWC in the bag ;) Must admit, I hate the way Joubert calls games, they always seem very biased and Ireland seemed to win all the 50/50 calls.

Scotland V Italy - WELL DONE ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sexton doubtful for the Wales game - Wales expected to be at full strength and have a bit of making up to to the Cardiff faithful do following the non performance last home and the smacking they got last time Ireland were in town. I have my ticket. Looking forward to this one. Ireland most certainly the form team and Wales need to keep their discipline

I would prefer Wales to lose with Sexton in the team, if Wales play badly! They need to be able to read the game (Sexton is brilliant at controlling the game - like the last Irish game you mentioned) and adapt for the RWC in a few months - have a few tickets to that :)

Didn't bother with RWC tickets I don't fancy dragging myself over to Cardiff from Norfolk then coughing up over £150 to watch them play Fiji/Uruguay - the crunch games are at HQ. They have warm up games in Aug/Sep so probably head over to those if it doesn't clash with the Singapore GP

It's a bit dissapointing really, they could've at least given us Oz at home so there was one big match in Cardiff for the Welsh fans.

Well if you lot fancy going to some games, keep an eye on the for sale section shortly after Wales get knocked out of the group stage. :(

England more likely :surrender:

Well you beat us a few weeks ago. The again Oz have lost to Eng, Ire & Fra recently so who knows... maybe it will be them that get knocked out.

Was at the game on Saturday at the Millennium Stadium - amazing atmosphere and the roar when Wales were given the penalty after 45 phases was just incredible. I don't think Wales will win it overall but what a performance.

Well my earlier prediction is still possible, I think the Wal v Eng & Wal v Ire have been my only real suprises for me so far, I guess the "Wales taking a while to get in to a championship" thing is getting more reliable each year. Looking forward to next weekend, it will certainly be an interesting Saturyday, I really hope Wales thump Italy in the first game to give Ireland and England something to think about, then Ireland to do the same ready for a really exciting England v France points decider. I get the feeling the Trophy is going to be in a car half way down the M4 for most of the day!

I'm really not looking forward to Sunday morning though! :(
