dwallis
Hi all, i've got an '03 350z fairlady and it think its time the suspension was replaced because the ride is becoming a little uncomfortable, even the smallest bumps or level changes have me thrown about in my seat. I've had the car for about two years but i am pretty much a n00b, so any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!!! Should i replace the suspension? If so, with what? The ride and handling are equally important to me, so OK handling with an OK ride are perfectly acceptable. Where should i go for fitting? Anything else i should be considering? Thanks Y'all
Paddy78
Do you have a budget? Sounds like the shocks may be a bit tired, so some coilovers might be what you need. To be fair a lot of the bushes may be shot too, so just replacing the shocks and springs might not totally resolve the issue, but a good place to start. Lexx
Start by identifying what it is that's wrong with your suspension. Get it up on a ramp or axle stands and give all the suspension a good push/pull/wwiggle. See if anything makes a grinding or banging noise. Look for any obvious damage or broken parts. Check for oil leaks from the shocks. Pointless spending £100s on parts that you may not need Or that may not fix the problem.
RobPhoboS
Agreed with the others. Find out the problem first, fix it and if still looking for suspension, set a budget. (FYI - I'm putting Bilstein B6 shocks & Tein S springs((mild drop)), and some choice poly bushings on the car for better response)
dwallis
I've not really got a budget, because i'm not entirely sure what it is in need to do and what is actually wrong.....so as you all say, I'll get someone to have a look and assess the situation and go from there. Thanks for the advice, i'd have just gone and got some new shocks or something. Appreciate you taking the time!
brillomaster
where are you based? when it comes to diagnostics and fault finding you'd be better off taking it to someone who knows the cars, and knows what the common faults with them are. Heres hoping the problem is obvious and easily rectifiable
Ekona
How many miles have you done? Really, any car coming up to 100k is due a refresh on the dampers and springs, regardless of usage.
