guBBy
Hi folks. Hoping to pick up my 350z on Sunday. Getting excited now but would like some info on a couple of things. Where should the temperature needle sit when at the correct temperature and roughly how long should it take to get there? Is there a certain way the clutch should feel / engage to show that it's healthy? Sorry for all the questions already lol Cheers
a2orry
Temperature is the same as eny car half way or slightly less on the gauge they do warm up quickly. Oil pressure from cold start 90 psi on idle hot oil presure 30 psi. the volt meter should be roughly 14 .its important that the car has been run on 98ron petrol. Ask if the oil level gets checked or if it uses oil .eny warning lights ie ABS, EML, TC recently flashed up is something id ask too. Edit forgot to mention the clutch biting point will be quite high. Pritchard
as a2 said above, must be Super Unleaded if you intend to the 270 horses. It even says it in your Owners Manual, its not just drivel theres also pictures available of a engine thats been knackered by prolonged 95ron. youve been warned
guBBy
Thanks very much guys. Good to know the biting point will be high. Will I be able to tell from the way the engine performs if it has been run on the wrong fuel or do you just need to trust what they tell me? RS8055
To run a Zed on 95 should be a crime against humanity! A good comparison would be drinking methylated spirits instead of a wine whiskey!

When asking the petrol question it's probably worth asking if your can run it on standard petrol (pretend you don't know much). If he says yes you then know he's been running it on 95 Ron. .. then just walk away. If you ask him if he always uses super unleaded you have more chance of him saying yes. ilogikal1
Where should the temperature needle sit when at the correct temperature and roughly how long should it take to get there? There's a little dot near the middle of the gauge (over on the right, by the needle) where it should rest when up to temperature. It should only take a few minutes for the water to get up to temperature, oil takes longer but there's no gauge (as standard) for that. Is there a certain way the clutch should feel / engage to show that it's healthy? Check if it's slipping; if it slips then it's on the way out, if it doesn't then don't worry about it. brillomaster
standard check for clutch wear, on a dual carriageway or similar, put in a high gear (5th or 6th) and floor the throttle. if the revs shoot up, clutch is knackered!
