Cheers Rich I know, shocking that ! It was a one off for sale in the UK mate, though here’s one the same from japan. Cost me £60 so a bargain really compared to the normal price and I couldn’t resist ! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F201949979151

SHEZZA
About time for a little update ! As show season was fast approaching it was time to tackle a few jobs. First up was the issue of rust ! even my zed had developed the dreaded rear arch rash, a problem which is coming more common on the older zeds now. Though only on the drivers side on mine. Id got myself a body shop lined up and had been on the waiting list for about a year When I got the call that it was all systems go ! The body shop being only a stones throw away from my house I stripped out the boot, took the rear lights out. Then removed the drivers side rear wheel fitting the space saver and drove the short distance to the body shop, where they got the zed up on the ramp. I then left it there for Drew and his dad to do there magic, keeping me updated along the way. I supplied Drew with a rust free arch cut which I’d purchased from an old forum trader the previous year to make it easier due to its position. Also new bumber bracket was purchased to refit the rear bumper as that had corroded. Then whilst the rear bumper was off I also had drew spray and install some new reversing sensors with new wiring loom fitted ready for myself to connect up once Id got the zed home, as the old ones had stopped working sometime ago and I’d disconnected them to stop the constant beep when in reverse. When Drew had finished, his dad then very kindly made injection holes and sprayed dinitrol in both rear qauters to help to stop any further corrosion, free of charge. davey_83
Fresh again!!! Not cheap but craftsmanship never is! HATE rust and Jap cars of this era a prone to it sadly.
SHEZZA
Cheers davey, not cheap at all , but she’s worth it. Once home I fitted the new reversing sensor system, connecting the new sensors. Rebuilt the boot, refitted the rear lights and wheel Also prior going to the body shop I’d fitted the new zero number plates I’d purchased from fourdot number plates as the previous ones was looking a little tired. More to follow ! Edited August 21, 2018 by SHEZZA
davey_83
Tein springs next? Would you look to have the ceramic coating redone or not?
SHEZZA
It’s something I’m considering mate and may have a go at over the winter if I get the zeditus itch and Santa is kind ! though I’m a kinda if it ain’t broke don’t fix it guy ! and I would rather go the coil over route, but funds won’t allow for that ! As for the ceramic coating it’s something I would have done again and will need doing again at some point. Again funds allowing. SHEZZA
After that it was time for show season. Starting off with japfest at Silverstone and jdm at castle Coombe. Then the annual club meet at the British motor museum where the zed won yet another trophy 2nd year running , this time 1st place for best srandard 350Z ! Standard I here you say ! Well it kinda of is really being all external parts fitted are factory fitted optional extras or genuine facelift OEM upgrades. until the bonnets open that is, though that was closed on the day. SHEZZA
Next up was to replace the corroded OEM W brace. I got the car jacked up and on axle stands and removed it. Then gave it the @buster test I decided to replace it with an ultra racing one, I know not OEM but a mod ! Still hidden though ! haha. Whilst I was waiting for it to be delivered and I could get at the parts you can’t usually reach with one fitted. I removed any surface rust, treated with bilt hamber hydrate 80 then gave it all a good coating of bilt hamber dynax UB. Then the day arrived and the w brace was delivered I set to and got it fitted to the zed. All in all a lot of improvements made to the zed this year, none of which are noticeable of course but I feel a lot happier knowing that there done. HEADPHONES
It looks like you either have hurculean strength or the W brace did indeed fail the "buster" test miserably. Will have to check mine later. I know it sounds a bit dumb but if my brace only has surface corrosion and is still ok, would I be able to tell by simply giving it a little knock with a hammer to check it doesn't deform or crumble? SHEZZA
Mine was definitely more than surface rust as I could break chunks of it whilst it was on the car. So much so that the holes at the bottom were gone in some places. Also the areas you can’t see when on the car like the top and behind the plastic trays was in a bad state, I was surprised how bad it was, as how it’s designed it holds moisture! A little knock I guess wouldn’t hurt though I’d say if yours has surface rust it wants coating anyway, so you could remove to do that, then check it all over. SHEZZA
Time for a little update. After the zed had been tucked up all winter it was time to blow the cobwebs off and go to a little local meet at melbricks organised by @davey_83 I say little, though over thirty zeds it was a great turn out. Now to get there involved going on the dreaded M6, which you’d think on a early Sunday morning would be traffic free. Yeah right ! Getting stuck in traffic I noticed that the temp gauge was higher than usual, not in the red but not looking good. I quickly turned the air con on and luckily that brought the temp down then I got off the first exit which I could. When getting to the meet I popped the bonnet and to my suprise both rad fans where running and cutting in and out as they should After the meet we went for a drive out, then after the drive home with no problem at all. How ever not getting stuck in traffic and opting for the twisty way home helped. Once home I decided to do a little investigating as regards to the fan motors. By unplugging the motors and applying 12volts direct from the battery to the motors, first to the speed one terminals, then the speed two terminals and low and behold neither of the motors worked on speed one. I decided that with Japfest fast approaching and not wanting to get caught out in the ques, the quickest option for me was to get a nice shiny mishimoto fan shroud kit. A couple of days later it was delivered. Then fitted. Once fitted having had to remove the top hose to get the old fans out and the new ones in, it was just a case of topping up with coolant about a litre and a half in this case. Now it’s know that the mishimoto fans are louder than stock as they are single speed and both run together, but to be honest it doesn’t bother myself at all, plus it’s a bit more bling in the bay. 3

Jay84
I did mine too just before japfest. I notice a slight noise in traffic, but with full exhaust system and hfc's, I hardly notice. I checked my freeze point before fitment, and it was around -30 degrees, topped up with water as I don't carry green coolant, and it only moved to -25 degrees...I can live with that
