Modern Day Hot Rodding

or these two a jeep and a jag, The age doesn't define a hot rod.

Do you really think Hot rods in the 1950s where built spending over $100k on a build like Chip Foose and Boyd Coddington to sit in the halls of sema if so your a fool, The original hot rods where built to the smallest cost with what every better parts they could land there hands on, o wait isnt that what the likes of people putting V8 engine in Japanese and European coupes are doing

So why is one of hotrod magazine project cars a 1971 datsun, but i mean your obviously more qualified than the longest running hot rod publication

Because its in a hot rod magazine or posted on the internet... it must qualify as a hot rod even if its a near std jap car with an engine swap right! :headhurt::surrender: I have had it wrong all these years, next hot rod show I attend I'll ask the guys for their take on the subject...and after I recover from the bruises I'll get back to you. ;)

Read what I said, if you dont understand it I can use smaller words.

Ive always understood a Hot Rod to be a light' date=' cheap car modified in an original way at home to go as fast as it could in a straight line by adding power and removing weight, the cars were them generally drag raced against other homebrew specials.[/quote']

Weirdly enough, every single one of the last cars you posted are drag cars, probably home built, that dont appear to be made for corners. So Id actually say we are agreeing here, but your frothing at the mouth seems to have made you miss that. By the way, not everyone has 25 minutes to watch people putting engines into 200SX's either, Ive seen that done a few times before as it happens.

Oh, and the Datsun thats in Hot Rod Magazine? Fast Ford has a 1.0 litre Fiesta in it this week, does that mean that 1.0 Fiestas are Fast then?

I think Stevo may have a point here, as certain cars are synonymous to what people may consider a "Hot Rod" to be, it's quite difficult to break away from the traditional idea that we are bombarded with as to what is or isn't a Hot Rod. It's similar to the term "UFO" because when you say to someone " have you ever seen a UFO" they're likely to think of a flying disc that amounts to a "space-ship" that has travelled from a very distant galaxy, when in reality, anything that can't be identified in the sky is potentially a UFO, it doesn't necessarily mean that it came from another galaxy. I think the same idea can be applied to what is a Hot Rod. I do get it, you say "Hot Rod" and i'll think off a cut and chopped olds mobile with a thumping V8 and shiny wheels.

if it's not re-edited then it's not by me. And there's no humour in it, just highlights your ironic statement about the internet whilst using the internet to justify your answer. More embarrassing on your part really

Oh and BTW, someone take me to the burns unit, that comeback was just scathing!!

So my sarcastic comment that criticizes StevoD for using Hot Rod magazine and the Internet to justify and back up his ideas and comment's was ironic? so where did I use the Internet to try and justify my comments?? and my reference to Hot Rod ||Magazine was mealy that I used to read it and they used to feature drag racing.

Correct me if i'm wrong but your argument is, you can't believe everything you read on the internet? "Because it's in Hot Rod magazine and on the internet.... " you're saying sarcastically, oh it must be true! if so, you're using the internet i.e this thread, on this forum to argue your point. If all this is true, then there is some irony in it. If I've missed your point completely, then I take it all back and i'll practise on my sense of humour :teeth:
