Opinions on this wheel

I bought a rear alloy from ebay so I could get my rear wheel painted as it is getting the usual bubbles.

The advert stated. Alloy is without any buckles. I have already requested a return :)

What do you guys think is it bent ? I have never seen a 350 rear damaged before.

advert might be right thats not buckled it dented hard to tell from pictures

If its buckled its got a dent as below ie flat spot bent inwards or

Buckled-Alloy-Wheel1.jpg

i would bet 80% of 350z wheels would be similar to yours hence why all wheels end up with weights as the wheels do naturally deform on the road , only way around it is buy a new one, also the two measure tape pictures might be the angle taken from but looks like the tapes held at different angles which will make it more different than it is

take it to a garage and see how many weights it would take to run true

can you get a picture from infront and behind the face like the image above

Can't see it's bent from the pics above?

Agree with Steve that the tape measure doesn't look like it's been held straight. Not sure that would add half an inch tho

that what i thought but when you look at the white stuff on the alloy the tapes been moved maybe 10-20mm up between photos if there an extra inch there over 10-20mm would stand out like a sore thumb that doesnt well not to me

I used the tape as a guide, over an area of around 200mm there is a 5mm narrowing.

If you look at the outer and inner lip beneath the tape you can see it closing in.

Plus the outer lip that usually gets scraped has been hammered and filed flat, and is very uneven.

Seller has accepted it back.

That wheel is/was bent ... I can't understand how people cannot see that ... it is blatantly obvious ... there's a 10+ mm difference in width at the two points (assuming that the end of the tape is located correctly on the other rim)

Bent and buckled are two different things

Also look where the tape is its 10mm above the other if it's grown an inch over 10mm of the circumference the rim would look a lot worse than that it would have a spike on it

The first picture shows the wheel on a flat surface and its clearly not true.

Whatever words were used to describe it the intention was to give the impression that there is nothing wrong with the wheel which is not correct.

Get it returned mate.

Usual thing of ebay is that half the people selling stuff don't know what they are selling, They could`nt tell a good one from a bad one. Secondhand stuff has always been like this with sellers just taking a chance.

Is it just me or in the first photo the edge of the wheel is off the edge of whatever it's sitting on. So you can't get a good idea of what it's like

Viewing on my phone so hard to tell

Its sat on a sheet of perspex on top of the tumble dryer.

Rest of the wheel sits flat you can see the gap under the wavy lip.

I see it ... that wheel has had a bash ... it looks like somebody has had a go at straightening it ... you were right to reject it

I think the issue is the difference between bent and buckled - as in the pic above (StevoD post) that is buckled yours appears to have a "bent" rim - heavy curbing will do that and you can argue therefore that the rim is buckled so you could certainly ask to return it and see what happens.

The other side to it is that a buckled wheel is hard if not impossible to repair a "bent/buckled" rim can usually be repaired quite easily by most wheel specialists, although as said above a lot of wheels are like this will still take a tyre and hold air and can be balanced so if it is not noticeable with a tyre on could be used as is.

Not telling you what you should or shouldn't do just trying to help :)

I hope you get a suitable solution as quickly cheaply and painlessly as possible
