VRRacing
A bit more hacking away today. Fitting the cage around the bit dash bar. Scary stuff cutting in to a nice car! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
VRRacing
A spot of cage fitting this afternoon. Notching it in to increase the contact area on to the chassis. Hopefully have it in and the dash back in (to a fashion) before the testing day:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
VRRacing
Moar exciting bits arrived. Fancy new Time Attack Cold Lap light and a new Cartek electronic kill switch. Hopefully this kill switch is better than the last one I had on my Civic. Should be as it's rated double the load of the old ones. VRRacing
roll cage coming along nicely. Pretty much finished the front half, back half should be finished tonight. Door bars in. Going to have to do something with the doors to make door cards clear the roll cage door bars. Should be able to keep winders intact, which although will add weight I still want to keep them. VRRacing
so bar the gusseting the cage is done. Done it to MSA regs, there are other bars that could go in but that's all we need for now to meet the MSA blue book regs. We are going to add back in the bracing between the rear strut top once the bulkhead is done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
GMballistic
Such an interesting read and great pictures. Love your matt black "Bell" helmet too btw, ...much nicer than my "Nitro Racing" helmet. Bit jealous.
GT4 Zed
Just out of interest how much would it cost to do this cage for a customer car with the car fully stripped?
VRRacing
I'll have a word with Chris tomorrow about how much it would be. I'll pm you when I figure out how on this app:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
VRRacing
so largely by design and a small amount of happy coincidence, we were able to cut the bottom of the door cards off and clear the door bars no problem:) going make it look nice and neat. Get to keep the window winders in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

VRRacing
Cage done. We are wrapping the cage in the front half of the car in faux suede. Posh dash now back in minus the air bag, carpets minus some of the sound deadening. Plus awesome new rota grids arrived. VRRacing
Had the front, rear and quarter windows put back in this evening. This time of light weight lexan variety, and the only bit of the car we didn't do ourselves. Will have the door windows in tomorrow, also plastic but they'll still function as normal, got plastics4performance to add a special hard coating that cost a fortune so should last well:) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
bizz
Very nice work. Brings back memories of building mine, apart from yours is travelling along a lot faster haha. grahamc
Could help with some weight saving here: http://www.350z-uk.c...dyclub-exhaust/ What is the weight difference between the carbon bootlid and a bootlid that has had the weight bar removed? Weight bar should already be removed from this car Edited February 6, 2015 by grahamc
VRRacing
I don't think there will be a huge difference once the inner skin, wiper motor etc have been removed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk You'll be surprised I reckon The window motor does weigh a bit but the boot itself is pretty damn heavy. VRRacing
got the last few jobs done today to get the Z ready for its first outing tomorrow. Just about managed to get the fuse box tucked away, now the cage is in the way. The front lexan windows are in too. Let see how it goes:).
