Keyser
Here is an off the wall random question for anyone who may know what on earth is this, and what is it for? I have half a dozen from my late mothers china collection but have no idea what they are - I was OK with the teapots and plates, I can even spot a tureen but what the !"£$% are these????? GMballistic
For putting your teabags into when you take them out of the cup is my guess. Got something similar at home ~ you just put the teabags in the food bin then when all the teas drained off & they're dry. I like the idea, I may use it for that but this was around before Tea bags - earliest piece in the collection is a tea cup from 1870

Did you use the search, sure this has come up before Thing is ... That looks older than the invention of the tea bag ? Maybe for draining veg ? Cabbage etc ? Guess that's not what it was originally intended for then (think GIXXERUK has nailed it ) but at least you could get some use out of it that way.
