stebbs
Hey, I have just bought a supercharged (HKS) Z and also own a Stuart Taylor Aries with Yamaha R1 engine, 495kgs all in with fuel. Going up for sale in the New Year by the way. I have used the kit car mainly for track days at Knockhill for the last 4 years, amazing car, direct, super nimble and a giant killer. The Z feels very quick but not had a chance to really try it out properly yet, will be taking it to Knockhill next year (anyone going next year look for the Azure blue supercharged Z and come over and say Hi) but hope to get a trip to the ring to really try it out. I think it will be more suited to the higher speeds than the twists of Knockhill. Two different animals really and not fair to compare them. Only real issue with the Z is a lot of tramping at the rear which I hope there is a cure for. Looking to sell the kit car to keep the Z long term now, better all round useable car that will still put a smile on your face. I would definately recommend one even after only owning mine for a couple of months and spending half my time offshore not getting to drive it. Plus point for me is the wife loves the Z and hates the kit car and seems to swear a lot and question my parentage when I am scaring her around Knockhill in the kit car. Thanks I'll definitely get looking come the new year. Go and experience a couple. That's what I'm after silly power in a sensible car. The supercharged 350z is the right package at the right price for me. Tom

Jp606
It's when you corner too hard and your wheels turn into the Big Issue. Edited December 22, 2014 by Jp606

Better than fwd torque steer I'm sure.
GT4 Zed
Wheel bounce/shudder under hard acceleration when tyres start to lose grip and wheels start spinning, felt it in 1st 2nd and 3rd so far. What you are experiencing is rear wheel hop due to the inherent anti squat and suspension geometry of the zed and it's common in many OEM RWD cars with similar suspension design eg BMW You can reduce this by a lot if you replace the subframe and diff bushes with urethane bushes but if you want to abolish it completely the you need replace the subframe and diff with solid bushes and to alter anti-squat by a combination of lowering the car on coilovers with stiffer springs and raising the subframe. I had the polybush setup and a few months ago have gone with solid bushes and it's just amazing. I can now put all the power to the ground even in the wet. There is a trade off though as you sacrifice road manners and on a bumpy A, road compliance is reduced and you need to concentrate to drive fast. For me this is acceptable as my car is mainly track but if you want a DD/ fast road car then don't go further than the polybushes. I'm helping a few people do a complete polybush swap so if you are interested send me a pm.
nissanman312
All sounds like more hassle than its worth for me personally I'm not that mechanically minded So if the z is supercharged is a bit of a handfull then?
Steve.M
Thanks, for the heads up, being a long long time rear wheel drive man both with road and racing cars I have experienced this many times. I would be very interested to know where I can get the poly bush kit for the rear and probably for the front and any other tweeks and tips available without going the solid bush route. The supercharged Z from my brief ownership up to now is what ever you want it to be, very drivable in any conditions or situations but when unleashing the horses it stuggles a bit to get the power down. I also have Tein electronic damping which I havent played with yet so maybe going for the stiffest rear setting would also help. Like I said before, great car and I would HIGHLY recommend it. GMballistic
a little off topic here, but what are the costs of going super charged? availability of parts? and compotent garages that carry out this work who are familiar with the zed..not that i want too (lol) Costs vary and it depends what model Zed you have. Also some traders will do you the parts at a cheaper rate if bought all together as a package deal so to speak. I bought the vast majority of my parts from Chris at Tarmac Sportz who I'd highly recommend but there is also another trader that can supply FI parts which is Torqen who have just started business.
