oldbonesmcgee
Dropped it off and they are not going to put the car in the workshop even though the window is down. The best they can offer is a bag over the window. The head of workshop came and asked me if that was my 350z....not a good start (and I'm not judging, each to their own, but this guy was tattooed head to toe, facial piercings and not of a friendly disposition). He then told me the workshop was full when I had actually just walked through with the service rep and it has about 6 - 8 ramps, massive workshop, with 3 ramps in use. So I have absolutely no trust in Specialist Cars Nissan Aberdeen what so ever right now. I will be going over there after tea tonight and if it is outside I will be volting the fence to put my car cover on. Little bit of icing on the cake... £100 diagnosis fee, I'm guessing that is non refundable in the event that the lock is covered by Nissan? robin c
Feel you pain with Nissan I had such a big argument with Nissan GB over this issue that I doubt I will ever buy a Nissan from a main dealer out of principle. Thankfully the good people at WLMG Slough sorted this no questions asked. Should have just gone straight to them. They had done loads of swap outs on gtrs prior. No charges and no titting around with Nissan gb dire customer service. Hope you get it sorted. I got a official letter sent to me a month after I had the part changed explaining my car need this warrenty fix. Classic!
Will370z
Doesn't sound like the best place. I would not be happy about them leaving the car out if the window won't shut I was lucky, walked in and explained the issue, they recognised it straight away said the recall was incoming anyway so they would fix it and sort it out with nissan. I said i needed the car the following day so they took the lock due to go into one of the gtrs and put it in mine instead. Done and dusted and no charge to me what so ever. oldbonesmcgee
I have a RevC lock, so that tallys with my VIN not being covered as I think they are only replacing RevA and B. So if you think you're safe...you're not! haha I hate steering locks... Some faith has been restored for the time being, I went up to check and they have put my car inside tonight. Baby steps... R35LEE
Horrible Issue when it happens. I have had it with a 370z and a GT-R. I carry 2 of the new style steering column locks in stock now and they are very easy to fit
oldbonesmcgee
Just spoke to someone from Nissan UK and they are paying for everything. He didn't tell me whether that was as a good will gesture or because of the service bulletin recall but I wasn't about to question it. I'm a happy man, and I have to say it is the kind of thing that builds confidence in a brand, car is out of warranty, not in the VIN range for recall, but fixed nonetheless.
