Bodyboarder81
I'm possibly wanting to try and extracted a few more horses from my zed . I would love to supercharge it but at £11k + it's a lot of dosh , yes I know you get like 450-500bhp but still it's a lot of money . What can be done with say 5k ? Cams? Head work , pistons , And what sort of gains could I expect? Is getting 370 at the fly achievable ? This is on a HR zed .
Lexx
Been covered a fair bit recently. 350 is doable. But it will cost you a lot more than £5k imo. How drivable it would be after new cams etc is also questionable.
Bodyboarder81
Ya ok ill try and find some threads on it and yes I'm guessing 5k doesn't get you a lot when your pulling the engine apart .

Bodyboarder81
I have the money , it's just I'm not sure i can justify spending what will probably end up being close to 13k 13k + my 350 ( 9-10k ) 22k... You can get a lot of performance for that money Edited December 1, 2014 by Bodyboarder81
Neilp
I've spent about 5k just getting my nitrous installed and running.... 5K won't get you far unless you can do the work yourself, and from others experience, you really need to be a real pro engine builder to get it right and not go boom

Ekona
Driving lessons. As in, proper performance driving. You'll go much, much quicker with £5K tuition than with £10K of engine mods.
Pritchard
I've not seen it done (not that ive looked for it) but 370 fly would be tough for 3.5litres NA on paper for a road car. its over the 100bhp/litre mark. I refer to my signature... so dont listen to anything i say. that being said... get digging for someone who has. Theres a chap here with 340@fly with wild cams The standard specs for the HR cams are: Lift: Intake/Exhaust : 10.5mm/10.5mm Duration: Intake/Exhaust: 248/248 Intake Open: 2º BTDC Intake Close: 66º ABDC Exhaust Open: 68º BBDC Exhaust Close: 0º BTDC Overlap: 2º which you knew that im sure. With your 7,500 rpm rev limit they appear like a very mild grind to me! in fact my DE specs arnt far off. Does the HR have variable timing? (i dont know this answer, but im assuming it must do). that being said, the high rpm limit gives you scope for bigger cams. The first hit i found was GT Motosports on stateside, offering a warm 264/258 duration spec. or Jim Wolf does a couple of specs. https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=3987 Cams will be £800+springs etc before labour fitment. Alot, but leaves you a sizable budget left. Actually.... no i'll let you do your own research. lol. here: HR, NA 310whp (so not far off your mark) http://my350z.com/forum/na-builds/567608-310whp-hr-350z.html HR, NA 323whp (this is a solid 360bhp no matter what tranny loss you calculate with) http://mybuildgarage.com/2010/09/nissan-350z-na-323-whp-build/ HR, NA, 400whp ! Floydbax
What about putting in a cheeky bid for this item: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISSAN-350Z-APS-TWIN-TURBO-FOR-PARTS-ONLY-BREAKING-/221594953663?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item339816a7bf - It's been sitting there slowly deteriorating away for a while now wont be worth anything soon as it's obviously not moved for a while. Yeah yeah big build worth a ££££ - but no, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it and they must realise that by now and it's not appreciating rotting away there!! I'm sure that engine with TT was up for £5k a while ago - if it is what they say then make a great start for someone - assuming it is all still serviceable the front IC is damaged to start with so would need a good going over. Exactly £3K, - £2K to swap it over, repair or replace parts where needed (they still sell the kit in Oz) and a retune/any extra fettling needed + £1.5K more back for the original engine, Fanny's your auntie
jumping350
ive asked about that TT a few times (I only wanted the FRS ) but kept saying someone is interested in the whole lot and would let me know if they dont take it. God knows how long since i re messaged them the other day and got the same story, They obviously want to keep it whole so I reckon a cheeky offer on the lot will see you good
