Jmanji
I have a possible problem, two years ago I changed from a commercial policy to a motor trader policy as I was buying and selling cheap cars as a hobby, it worked really well as you are insured on any car including my work van. Now I have stopped buying cars I want to go back to a normal policy. I can't find many insurance companies that will take the 5 years no claims as it was a motor trade policy. It's due next week. I have three vehicles the zed, mx5 ands vauxhall combo van. I did get a quote from be wiser for 2200, and that was for driving the zed and mx5 less than 5000 miles a year. Has anyone got information on which insurance companies will take the 5 years NCB, also obviously I can only get the NCB one vehicle. I'm thinking of just staying as a motor trader as it's £1400, but as I'm not selling or buying much it may not be right or they may not renew if I tell them. Any advice would be appreciated. Ekona
I suspect you're going to really, really struggle. Who have you tried so far? You might try A-Plan, they've mirrored a good amount of NCB for me in the past albeit not commercial. As for staying as a trader, I guess you just need to fulfil the conditions of the insurance for it to be valid. What does it specify? Ricey
If you stay as a trader they usually ask to see proof of trading periodically.

Grundy
Well do you take no claims bonus from Motor trade or not? Surely it's a simple yes or no?
Tim BW
We don't per se but we can look at mirroring the NCB so the full discounts are still applied

When I factored in the total cost of it all, it worked out cheapaer for me to just insure the 3 vehicles I had seperately - albiet I had no NCB on 2 of them. Now many years on ive got 3 insurance policies, all with various amounts of NCB on. Bit of a pain.

ZMANALEX
Most insurance companies will take into consideration your business NCD when quoting for a commercial policy. As Tim has said the general profile is what they usually look at and if they mirror the NCD then the discounts will apply. All you really require is a letter from your company MD or Sec. stating that you have not had any claims in the past "2" years.
