martybhoy
Just wonderring guys, if anyone has logged a build thread with a swap using an rb36 engine? Was talking to one of the guys in work and we were discussing how that would be one hell of a combination. 350z body and styling with an rb26 powerplant. Seen a few vids on youtube aswell and they just sound fantastic.
Tricky-Ricky
Have a search on the US forums, I think its been done a few times, the better option is the 2JZGTE swap, or LS2 or 3 swaps.
martybhoy
Yeah I have noticed that a few have been done over the pond. I can see why a big v8 would be great but surely a nissan with a toyota engine would blow a few minds from an enthusiast point of view
coldel
Ask wasso on here he has a nice v8 plugged in - although be interesting to see how the handling holds up given the v8 is something like 25% heavier than the v6?
martybhoy
Can imagine that must require a far more strengthened setup all round. Would be beastly though.
Tricky-Ricky
RB26 = 407lbs 320BHP easy to get 360-380BHP but after that gets very expensive, and is a bit high strung when pushed beyond 600BHP VQ35DE = 417lbs 276BHP expensive to get anything more than 300BHP from. 2JZGTE = 594lbs 320BHP and easy/cheap to get 370 to 400BHP 600-900BHP possible with std block/pistons, but also expensive. LS1-3 =503 -516lbs 350 and 450BHP 550BHP with mild mods, but not sure on price.
coldel
In terms of handling set-up the RB26 might be a good bet - although you would be going against the ethos of the NA Zed

To stick with nissan though and have quite an iconic nissan rb engine would be excellent to see in a zed. If an readily rebuilt engine, gearbox and diff mods were available I think this would be a heavily favoured option.
Tricky-Ricky
You can get a complete conversion kit for fitting the LS1-3 from the states.
