steve916
My mrs has decided that she would like to get me one of the Ferrari (or similar) driving experiences as a Christmas present. Would be interested to hear who's done what on here, and which would be recommended?
StevoD
v8 touring car at rockingham was good single seater at silverstone was good astra/sierra/mini wrc car at langleypark rally school was good but id rather do something like this than a few laps in a supercar anyday now https://www.redletterdays.co.uk/Experience/Ref/ICNGS/Ultimate-Stock-Car-Racing
GMballistic
I have done one experience day at Castle Combe & another one at Silverstone circuit. At Silverstone I drove a Lotus Elise around the circuit which was fantastic fun & the tuition was great. The experience I did at Castle Combe was firstly in a Ford Focus and then followed by a drive in a Formula Ford single seater. This was by far the better experience to do as being in a single seater I was able to push the car as hard as I could without an instructor beside me trying to rein me in when he felt nervous. Enjoyed both days but was most at home at Castle Combe as it's a circuit I've been on a lot in various cars (on track days/race days) & knew the circuit well. Personally Steve if I was you I'd be looking at some sort of single seater experience day as this will by far be the most fun imo.

Really good day , Elise, Lamborghini , single seater I was looking at Thruxton ones earlier. Looks pretty good. Ya it is a good day out . You are standing around a bit sometimes but there are so many cars there that there's always things to look at . You can book a passenger ride with tiff in a m3 as well ..... Pretty scary ! Really wish I lived there if only so it was more convenient to get to Castle Combe circuit more often. Jud1
I did a Caterham day at Silverstone (Car park) drifting through cones etc ..... great fun, though not a "speed day" Bloody harder than it looks, great experience... :D ... have to say, when we arrived ..... there was this Caterham just flying around through the cones, sideways, smoking up, 360's .. amazing driving skills. Car pulls up to the portacabin, driver out .. helmet off ... one stunning young "babe" of a lady . Not sure why that would surprise me really, but it did! ..... certainly wasn't going to impress her with my driving skills .. For me next, I'd like to try the Rally Car experience (Brands) Edited November 24, 2014 by Jud1
Ekona
I did a rally day at a place near Silverstone back in '02, and it was immense. Driving a proper Group N Impreza around on a loose surface was just so much fun, and there were no limits put on the car or anything. Something like that, or the Caterham experience would be so much more rewarding than 3-4 laps of anything in a rev & gear limited supercar. Alternatively, a regular track day in your own car would be a good option. For some people, they might be perfectly happy just to drive a 458 at 3/10ths, but I'd personally find driving something slower at 8/10ths to be much more rewarding. Caterhams, Elises, rally Imprezas, all far more fun.

WINKJ
i used to work for everyman/drivers dream days and the experience really varies from track to track in my opinion. my favourite was Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire... you can't really go wrong with a track day experience to be honest, but do some research on which track you want to go to before you commit!!! and ALWAYS buy theadditional insurance waivers they try and push on you for £20 extra on the day.
-Bradders-
I had a choice and chose a exige supercharged over all the lambo ferraris etc as i got 3 laps more lol.
Ekona
this one? Similar (they had Escorts and Imprezas too), but not them. I can't remember the name right now, will have to take a look when I get home on the bottle of champagne I won for Most Improved Driver that day* *Which only highlights how bad I was to start with
newkid
You can do a full day of proper drifting for a couple of hundred quid. There are some places that will give you tuition and let you out in modified jap cars for between 4 an 6 hours of drifting time. Its a fair dollop of cash but compared to 80 to 100 quid for 5 mins in a ferrari, its worth it. Includes all tyres, fuel etc. Would be an awesome day.

370Ad
I find these days awful and a total waste of time. You can never push the car and always get told to go so slowly round the corners (Which is the fun bit). I would agree 30 laps in an RX8 would be much more fun than 3 very slow laps in a Lambo.

martybhoy
I drove a 360 in Manchester. Fantastic way to pass a couple hours. The Ferrari was outstanding but I think due to my age the guy was telling me to hold back a little. Still good though!
