Tricky-Ricky
Hi guys, just wondered if any update on this as my 07 plate just dropped in pressure down to around 10psi at idle.. Was hoping maybe engine flush may cure problem?? Engine flush wont help if its down to a gasket leaking, in fact I would avoid using a flush if you have low oil pressure, whats you oil pressure at 2K RPM? r32tone
At 2k rpm i've got 45psi on the gauge, which is down on a few weeks ago. Whats the norm?

Mark@Abbey m/s
The paper gaskets mentioned above do fail. It will cause lower oil pressure. You won't see any leaks either. Labour intensive job thou to rectify. I have a HR in parts at work, will take some picture of the rear section on the front covers. Thanks
Roscoe
Confirmed today the gaskets on my 08 HR had failed. This engine has full nissan service history and is on 70,000. If you are experiencing low oil pressure on idle (around 10-15 psi on in car gauge) this is most likely your problem. Oil pump failures on the HR's are very very rare I'm led to believe. Il try and upload some pictures of the failed gaskets.

I think the book time from nissan is about 10 hours. A specialist garage would obviously be cheaper than taking it to nissan and would certainly do a much better job.
steve916
Are up rated gaskets available? Maybe I'm just getting paranoid but my pressures do seem a bit low. However, I haven't noticed a knock on effect from it, and I meticulously check my oil level weekly. There doesn't seem to be a clear cut answer though, as I see so many people say that it needs looking at, and just as many saying forget the pressures, level is more important, as long as the guage is doing something, then it's fine. Yes nissan upgraded the gaskets and they now have a metal core. The part number has also changed.
Roscoe
Car is now back on the road, complete fix. She now sits at 30 psi on warm idle and 60psi at 2000rpm. 😊
Toon Chris
I always knew those HR engines were a fad and more trouble than the extra HP was worth. Stick to DE my friends, built from girders and they go on for ever Edited January 23, 2015 by Toon Chris
