steve916
Got up this morning and went out to my car, only to find that some stupid #*~$€ has reversed out of the parking space next to mine, on full lock, and scraped the rear wheel arch of my pride and joy. Mad and angry is an understatement, but I can't do anything to change it. I don't even know who did it, as they had driven off with not a care in the world. I'll have to make a few phone calls to dent specialists now.
GMballistic
That sucks Steve, ...sorry to read that. Happened to me some years ago when I owned an Impreza. Some people unfortunately just think of themselves & don't give a monkeys if they damage other peoples property just as long as they don't have to pay for it. In 25 years of driving, I have never scraped any body else's car. Hopefully it won't cost me too much to sort it out.

veeg33
I hate b@st@rds like that! So irresponsible! Gutted for you Steve. Similar thing happened to my mini last year, I suspect it was my neighbour but no proof she doesn't give a damn when she open her car door. I've stopped parking there and now park at the visitor's space. Hope it won't cost you much to get your Zed back to its glory

The_Lord
Drivers (people) like them should be banned from driving and shot on sight I really hate when this happens (happened to me twice with 2 different cars). I hope you sort it out with minimal cost mate. Edited November 17, 2014 by The_Lord

steve916
I have just got back from having a quote done at a body repair shop nearby. I have been quoted £318. Just wondering what you guys think about that quote. Too high, about right? Photos of the damage below. Dicky
if this happened outside your house in the morning then it suggests whoever did it must have been staying somewhere close to you. Why not have a walk around the neighbourhood and look for a viehicle with your colour paint on its front wing. If you find it knock on their door and ask for an explanation and get the police involved if necessary. If you need any help the Geordie boys are available! BAST--DS! Thanks for the offer Dicky I did go for a walk around as soon as I noticed it. No sign of any marks on any of the other cars. I suspect it was just a visitor that just drove off without a care in the world.

350zedd
Sounds a bit of a rip-off to me. I'd get a few more quotes if I were you.
steve916
Sounds a bit of a rip-off to me. I'd get a few more quotes if I were you. I thought it was a bit high. They said the would remove the rear light and fuel cap, repair the dent and re spray the whole panel. Another quote I got later was £140 but no mention of the whole panel. Rock_Steady
318 for that?!? uh uh. That's way too much. Bugger me. That should be something along the lines of 150, max, inc VAT Not for the whole panel Edited November 18, 2014 by Rock_Steady
veeg33
318 is way too high for that mate. I think the local shop I go to will get it sorted within 100, mind you he hasn't have a proper shop but he does a really good job for small money. Too my mini there once to get something similar sorted, 50 quids and I can't tell it has been resprayed if I don't try really hard. My colleague introduced me to this guy, in a wooden shed enough to fit just 3 cars with a spray room inside. Not convinced to start with but definitely impressed with his work and unbelievable price. He quoted me £120 for full front bumper respray on the zed but I decided to get it done in one go including the bonnet. Having said that, you might need to travel a long way. West Yorkshire? 😎 Ask around, I'm sure you'll find some lower price garage. Good luck mate. Edited November 18, 2014 by veeg33

Any other vehicle and I might have worked out fuel costs to West Yorkshire, but I fear a zed would cost more than the repair in fuel I just need to find a local trustworthy body shop
steve916
I took a gamble and opted to have our local Chips Away bodyshop do the work, and Ive just picked it up. I must say Im very impressed with the service and result. It cost £160 including the vat and the whole job was completed in 3 hours

I have read varying stories about chips away, but at the end of the day it comes down to the individual doing the job, not the company. Guess we have a good guy in our area
WINKJ
jesus! great job. i have heard they are really hit and miss, depending on where you are in the UK. I had a chap out to look at my old 350 and he said he wouldn't touch it as the paint/bumpers on 350s are 'unworkable' and can never be repaired... #LOL
