xStric9x
This may sound like a strange question but what is the finest sand paper you can buy? The inside of my alloy has a small bit of residue which has glued itself to my wheel. I've tryed everything to get it off and it won't budge so last resort is to use some really fine sandpaper but i don't know which is the finest grain. Help please
Chesterfield
Have you tried claybar? I wouldn't go near an alloy with sandpaper, as you are likely to damage the lacquer, which could lead to corrosion, which will lead to much upset. Zedrush
Sorry to hog this space mate, I have some wierd residue appear on my alloy wheels not sure if its traps water stain or if the laquer is coming of but only in certain places, would clay bar sort this? I accidently used polish instead of wax but it was this: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/shop/engi ... p_106.html Wheels are only 5 weeks old As for sandpaper I would not use, normally white spirit worked wonders but not sure if will damage your wheels I would test on a small area and if ok, then goes for it

Chesterfield
There is also a wheel cleaner I bought years ago, I think its called MC2 also known as viro-sol, its made from non acidic degreasing liquids etc. I think its used on boat decks and hulls. Available here: http://www.mustang-cleaningsupplies.co. ... EASER+5LTR and here: http://www.olympiccleaning.com/ Its also about the best wheel cleaner bar none that I have used. Dilute 1:10 with water, spray fine mist onto wheels covered in brake dust, leave five minutes and rinse off. use it neat on hard spots and its perfect, also works under engine bays too. Ebized
I recall someone on here singing the praises of a wheel restorer in Wrexham not so long ago - as I see you are based there - worth a visit to help sort this out?
nixy
if you were going to try something as drastic as fine sandpaper what about a really fine grade steel wool? I have some really fine stuff that I've used on exhaust pipes without it stratching but you can get even finer than that. At the end of the day if it goes wrong you can still get the wheel refurbished for about £50.
