Craigy_87
Well it's my first day of ownership and I've came across a couple of problems. I have the p1147 and p1167 codes, read up about these an have mixed information some say they are nothing to worry about and I have cleared them but others say there mpg fell. The light also only came on after the car took a speed bump at an awkward angle if relative at all? Other problem well I think it is anyway. Where should the temperature gauge reach before the fans kick in to cool it down as it managed to reach 3/4 of the way perhaps a smidge higher and I stopped the car before it could get any higher. I then checked the car once it had cooled and the one fan was running and the temperature was back at its usual spot. I did however notice that the with the A/C on no fans came on Again unfortunately this all happened after hitting a massive pothole, only at a couple of mph I might add, while trying to find a space at a fireworks display. Thanks
Lexx
Fans are prone to failing in older cars. Sounds like yours has packed in. (Although check coolant level just to be sure) Mishimoto replacements are available from a few of the traders here and aren't expensive. GMballistic
If you're having problems with the fans then as Lexx mentioned it is common for them to fail. Have a look at this thread for more info, help & tips. Link: http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/90562-cooling-fans/
Craigy_87
Would this result in only 1 fan working? It's the passenger side fan that's coming on for me. I did read up about the fans being a problem. Car was bought from a dealer only had 28k on it, should be covered by there warranty hopefully
ATTAK Z
Only one fan works when AC is off IIRC
Craigy_87
Do we know which fan is which? My A/C on or off made no difference but apart from that one instance the car was fine the rest of the day in traffic and out
Randy_Baton
Just had mine replaced as I would overheat in slow moving traffic. When I started the car from cold and put the air con on full, only the driver side fan kicked in so presume this is the air con side. What happens when you do the above? WhackyWill
Welcome to The Land of Zed.. If you bought this from a Dealer I would be returning it..
ZMANALEX
to the forum. Back to the dealer for hopefully a warranty fix.
Craigy_87
The drivers side fan does nothing with aircon off or on Passenger side did come on an go off itself Actually not sure if it was just coincidence but the passenger side fan actually went off when I stuck the aircon on I'm sure it's covered under the limited warranty thing I'll check in the morning and phone them
Craigy_87
I'll start it and leave it stationary for awhile an see if it heats up an if the fans come on, what's normal on the temperature gauge an when should the fans kick in? Tricky-Ricky
Both fans will only come on if the following are met, engine is at normal temp and air-con is on, and/or the engine temp has gone above the threshold, which I think is over 100c otherwise only one fan comes on. -Bradders-
MY temp level never goes over half, if it moves a mm over half the fans come on.
Tricky-Ricky
Unlike aftermarket temp gauges which are designed to be accurate, std gauges are designed to be a general indication so they don't panic the owners, the temp has to go quite high before they move much. Craigy_87
Well fans are gubbed Not totally as when I spun the fan myself I began to spin itself but I can't be doing that every time I'm stuck in traffic lol Called the dealer an they've given me a garage to book it in with
