Flex
have a spreadsheet from new client (provided by previous accountant) and I need to get past the password. can anyone help without me having to rebuild the spreadsheet from scratch? There's no copyright on the sheet btw.
AliveBoy
We have this a lot, never found a way. I always get the client to email the previous accountant asking for the password copying me in. They normally oblige as they appreciate how annoying it is.
Flex
I think I've sorted it with a bit of VBA (never used it before) seems to be working. Prev accountant is a nightmare, rather not speak to them!!
AliveBoy
Oh I thought you meant you couldn't even open it, they're the worst! I hope it's not Global Tax Network? Edited November 4, 2014 by AliveBoy

Paddy78
I'm not sure it's still possible, but you used to be able to open in notepad++ and the password would be readable... not sure if they haven't fixed this though as it was **** poor security? I got a makro from the web which generates a useable password. Saved me about 3hrs work!!!
coldel
Excel passwords are next to worthless, plenty of stuff on the internet that unlocks them under the guise 'forgotten your excel password and need to access it...' - google will help you find the way.
