twobears
Oh dear, I have just made a monumental error when dropping my daughter off in a busy street. As I was pulling into a space I thought she was getting out as she had her hand on the door handle and I panicked and comprehensively scraped Stan's nearside fore wheel (or at least that's what I would call it if he were a horse) along the pavement. I know I am a total klutz and any other name you can think of but I am so upset and want someone to tell me what to do now, except cry and/or hand back my driving licence? Do I need a whole new wheel? Can alloys be repaired somehow? I feel so hacked off with myself and my stupidity that I realise I have probably posted this in entirely the wrong section so please could a kind Mod move it for me? Thank you. GMballistic
Don't fret. It can be repaired. Place's like this; http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/locations/cardiff-cwmbran/ ....can repair the alloy to a good as new condition. Usually they can do just the one alloy that's damaged so it shouldn't cost you too much money. Maybe £40-£80 at a guess? If on the rare occasion though they can't match the colour then you may have to get all four done as otherwise the colour won't match perfectly but I'm sure with Ford alloys they'll have no problem matching the colour especially on a car so new. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Rock_Steady
There's been way too much kerbing on this forum recently. Lets kerb the kerbing people. I'd rather get a taxi to the kerb after I park than scrape an alloy. Edited October 31, 2014 by Rock_Steady
twobears
Thank you GM I am so relieved to think that someone may be able to repair the damage. I will try to find someone when I come back from Spain. I could kick myself except I'm obviously so clumsy that I'd miss
twobears
I know R_S, I am a useless idiot and I freely admit it. I panicked but that's no excuse. I have previous form but I've never done anything quite this bad. I would post a pic but I am too ashamed
350zedd
Don't worry!.... its only a wheel and can be repaired. Its life.....$h1t happens all the time. We all make mistakes as we're only human!
glrnet
There seem to be a plethora of them around your area, don't know these but it's a start http://www.smartalloysurrey.co.uk/contact.html Maybe someone more local to you will recommend someone
Rock_Steady
Oh dear it won't be much consolation but I managed to kerb my front and rear Enkies the day after I had them powder coated. I was so angry with myself, buggering about like an old lady trying to park my car not too close but close enough blah blah blah and...... kerb!!! I could've shot a puppy in the face. twobears
Thanks to everyone offering sympathy and practical advice I still feel gutted at my own stupidity but if there is something that can be done to fix the damage I feel better and also that I am not alone. I am the sort of person who beats myself up endlessly for minor errors and this was a whopper.

sipar69
Don't beat yourself up. It happens. You'll feel a lot better after a refurb. It's very common - mine is the only car in our street that doesn't have scratched alloys but that's only because I've done it before and now park very carefully indeed Edited October 31, 2014 by sipar69

Ricey
Christ almighty...... You'd think you'd run over a baby seal! 50 quid and your right as rain. There's next to no chance of keeping wheels unkerbed in this bloody country! I kerbed my wheel driving the car home from having kerbing repaired!
twobears
I'm a perfectionist, unfortunately and hate making stupid, avoidable mistakes. I'd love to be more laid back but haven't figured out a way to achieve that without the aid of 'artificial stimulants'
Wendy
I kerbed my offside front the other day, just trying to avoid this landrover taking a corner too wide and forcing me too far over to the left. Its when you hear the scrapping sound that makes you gringe to the bottom of your stomach. I know in the scheme of things it really is relatively minor and of small cost - but it really does not help at the time. I too have had to learn I really cannot let these things upset me so much that I beat myself up about them for weeks. I actually thinks it certainly helps mind with a bit of more spare income and second car though. Good Luck in getting this repair done quickly and cheapily. None the less something else to sort out !!! Hardly a wonder life whizzes by so fast.............
