DANNY
is there any wat of finding out what the buttons are on my sat nav bec i want to know if the dvd player still works i cant figure it out? cheers
nixy
I've discovered that my DVD is no good either Danny. I have a TV/DVD/Sat Nav Sony head unit with TV tuner - the problem is that although Japanese DVD's are region 2 the same as ours - the screen is NTSC the same as america not PAL like ours. It's really quite complicated. A specialist looked at mine last week and said I might as well take it all out. If I used a japanese DVD it would work - same as the sat nav one does but that's not much use either.

Stew
Something similar might be available. I think Zedrush got a good one and there are others with double din screens and stuff on here

jim
I bought a cheap DVD, NTSC region 2, from eBay to try in my Jap unit, and I couldn't get it to play. I've given up but have kept the head unit as the radio works well, CDs play fine, it has a Minidisc multi player linked to it and it sounds really good. nixy
I would have thought a japanese DVD should work fine - mm, confusing. I'm just ripping mine out and buying something I can plug my ipod into. I have two head units in my car - the original single slot CD player and then a sony DVD/satnav/TV. Will I need something to fill up half the space if I take it all out? N15MNO-Daron
Hi.. No way... £1000+ for sat nav replacement is rip off.. there's another company on ebay who offer same thing for £800 Even that is too much.. get a car PC with touch screen for about £400. We want cheap ways of living with the standard units. Im trying to find and buy a Japanese Sat Nav DVD with UK map on it or get my freind in Japan to send over a load of Jap DVD's to see if it works.. over there the dvd's are a lot cheaper. nixy
Right, problem solved then, rent a room to a japanese student and take them everywhere with you! That would appear to be the only solution!

jim
Actually, I did something like that. Through a colleague I made contact with a Japanese employee of Panasonic's factory in East Kilbride and got him to look at the unit for me. He was almost as baffled as I was and could not even get the clock time set on it. In the end, he concluded that the unit must have had a remote control which unfortunately did not come with the car, and it was needed to change some important settings. N15MNO-Daron
Thats weird..Think u got different unit than mine.. Maybe shud chase up your import company about that issue.. they shud buy u a new remote for it.. or at least compensate u.
dandan118
Jap DVD's won't work in the car, i have tried this myself as i have a few Jap DVD's but with no sucess. I have tried nearly eveytwhere to get my sat nav converted- no joy. Best thing to do is keep the lit closed, hide the screen & install a double DIN head unit with Sat nav on- unless anyone else has managed to convert? Their web site is www.driveandview.com has anyone any experience of dealing with these guys? Thanks Ian
IanBH
Danny I've downloaded a manual from an American site and the buttons are the same, google nissan navigation owners manual, courtesy parts will let you download the whole manual. Mine has a TV button but that's the only difference. Ian
