Ekona
Just pour it into the header tank, when the engine is cold. You may well have to bleed it through if you've lost a lot though, which is the really fun bit...
telboy83
How will I know if I have air in the system
Ekona
Your coolant temp gauge will read massively off the scale. It might do it randomly as air works its way through, or it might do it all the time if it's locked. How much did you lose?
Tricky-Ricky
I usually leave the rad cap off and run the engine until the thermostat opens, at this point the level will usually drop so you can top up, if it starts to overflow put the rad cap beck on and then you can check the levels again when cold. This is for coolant loss like yours not general topping up.
