Grundy
The brake work wasn't planned, the brake pipes exploded after the service had been finished so i was kind of stuck. The pads were changes as part or the service. The £745 I estimated for the brake work was based on information from here. Lets not forget the paint work was given at a discount, The price for 4 panels is almost as cheap as one of the traders on here quoted me for just the bonnet. Nope, no discount there. £450 is the going rate for front end.

WINKJ
I think its important that we don't forget they did a good chunk of this work without the owners permission.... which has resulted in around an additional £1k onto the bill that the owner wasn't expecting... that could be the worst thing for me. you really should post their name now as that is very bad practice.

He said the brakes disks were also corroded and needed replacing but he went ahead and did this without telling me."
comrade
We're all giving it billy big bolloxs but c'mon, in this situation, there's not too many people that would like to go down and confront a company - Especially if there isn't sufficient amount of evidence to back it up with. If you are not comfortable with confronting people you might as well carry a vaseline jar with you at all times because you WILL be screwed over and over again. The chances are that the garage in question will give at least some discount if pushed, which is better than nothing. The only evidence needed here is a couple of quotes for the same work from different garages.
Shades Rs
Think it depends where your located in the country but it's roughly £70 per panel here, a little more with repair work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

mouthwash
Oh I missed that bit, I would be unhappy with any garage performing excessive additional work BUT I was at the garage and saw his rotors on the floor, they were falling to pieces. I think I paid over £600 for a front end respray (not the wings blended but actually resprayed) at TGM some years ago on my Integra. I agree it's not much more than £450 but it is more (inc vat especially). Before anyone gets the wrong idea, I'm not defending this garage and I have no affiliation with it.. I'm just curious and a bit disappointed as a user of said garage.

Grundy
True ^^ Just feel like this threads a bit of a mess atm with what has been done said and not done etc. Want to know the facts before we jump on the judgment hammer
Ekona
That's the thing, we have yet to get the full details from the OP. We have bits and pieces, but not everything.
roscopervis
The thing many need to realise is that the 350 isn't a particularly hard car to work on generally. It's quite old school so why it would have to go to a Japanese specialist, I don't know. changing the brake pads, for example, is about as easy as it gets for any car. I know it's your pride and joy, but it isn't a really complicated or annyoing French car, for example. Most things are easy to do and any decent garage will be able to sort you out. Crb
Did you have the drop links done after? At £250 each it sounds more like banana arms than drop links.

Nothing so far to require a lock, but i agree with some of the comments - more facts and less assumptions. Besides it is useful information for people if they are looking to take cars in for work. Its always good to know about good places but more so the places to avoid
Crb
Also prices and cost aside.... Your very lucky that the brakes blew up at the garage and not while travelling at 70mph. Every cloud eh!!
