GMballistic
Totally agree with Dan, yourself and Wink. Establish the facts regarding the prices first and then name and shame (if necessary) when you have possesion of all the facts. +1. Might not be as bad as you think so just hold your horses till you know for sure. Good luck.
veilside z
Try not to worry until the time comes to collect, as theres nothing you can do at the moment. I hope things turn out in your favour, within your expected budget and not the floating 1k extra. 4RE Leather
Excuse if this has already been mentioned b4 but, did you get an estimate prior to commissioning the work. In addition, did you ask the hourly rate plus vat? If not you could have picked a £75 plus vat an hour guy! Just a thought.
jollyranchers
Did you not get a fixed price first for the work ??? Best way is to agree a price anything over this they must ring you for the ok first Which garage was it ??
rtbiscuit
Is it a Ferrari master mechanic? At that price I'd hope it was Colin Chapman reincarnate working on my car

4RE Leather
Maybe the OP is non confrontational and does not want to feel uncomfortable when he goes back. Have you got the hourly labour rate yet? One thing is for sure, and that is you will learn very fast who to trust and who not to. But on the flip side, quality work does not come cheap. You need to find a balance. There are some fantastic traders on here and the forum members will always help you out of a fix. We have a big voice on here when we are united, so try to relax as there maybe a plausible reason for the prices. Pimm
Just reading all this, I really hope you are happy with the work carried out and the bill is not as high as you previously thought.
Shades Rs
Sounds as if it would have been cheaper booking it into the main dealer. Possibly garage is aware that you may not be mechanically minded and taking you for a ride? Please take a friend or local zed member with you who has mechanical knowledge when settling up the bill with this garage, all seems extortionate to me. Randy_Baton
I just spoke to garage and got a more detailed breakdown the final bill is ~£2,500 inc VAT. I had the wrong end of the stick with the figures he gave me, some of the prices were cumulative and some were additional. He did finish by saying it would be 350 all in which I presumed meant £3.5k. He was just referring to the paint. Price is still a little high, but if the workmanship is good and they are local I guess its worth paying. I went into this expecting to spend £800-£1k on the service. I had planned to change the brake rotas at the next service and some of you may know why I also needed a respray (C**T mobile is no more ). Just which I hadn't just spent £2k on a bed... I'm tempted to ask for this thread to be deleted. I've not mentioned the garage in question but there are not many JAP specialists close to me. Breakdown £1K for the service and extras - I was already okay with this, it might be a bit expensive but I don't know any better! £450 for a front end respray - Bonnet, bumper and wings - cheap enough £1k for the brakes re work including 4 new discs - I don't know the full break down of this I estimated the brake work as £745 based on at £215 for the fabrication of the corroded pipes + fitting and fluid (I found a quote on here for £150 but added an extra hour as they are not Nissan specialists). £400 for new rotas + 2hrs (£130) to fit (generous I know) Edited October 27, 2014 by Randy_Baton
jimboy2
Please don't take this as a dig as it's not supposed to come across as one. Your on this site for a reason. You shouldn't really be paying over the odd for a service. I know it's easier to say now but next time come here and ask the people that have been in there and made the mistakes. Don't do it again! On the plus side bet the car will feel great now!
Grundy
Ouch **** that think I paid around £300/£350 for ALL the p3 service supplies, diff, gearbox, molyslip, clutch, oil, plugs etc. So it cost them £700ish just to fill all those...and add a few bits and bobs... And it cost you £1k for a Full set of Discs and Pads?....Please tell me they are special and you do a lot of track days This just sounds like you went to a nissan specialist.
Ekona
That's crazy money. Just tell us who it is, they've not done anything wrong that I can see but they are expensive so I would like to be able to know who to avoid.
Will370z
That is way too expensive. I wouldn't be happy paying that
comrade
£1k for service + extras with your own bits supplied is at least £400 too much. £1k for brakes + lines is also about £400 too much unless they used premium rotors (which they probably haven't). Also, you shouldn't make any allowances for the garage not being a Nissan specialist as the work in question is easy enough to do for any competent mechanic. In other words, you are being taken for a mug. Come back to them and demand a discount. If they won't give you that, name the garage. We want to know who to avoid in the future. Shades Rs
I hate to say it but surely they seen you coming a mile off?? That's there Xmas party sorted! The work that has been carried out could have been done by a reputable garage there's nothing specialised about that? I really feel for you buddy I really do! Randy_Baton
The brake work wasn't planned, the brake pipes exploded after the service had been finished so i was kind of stuck. The pads were changes as part or the service. The £745 I estimated for the brake work was based on information from here. Lets not forget the paint work was given at a discount, The price for 4 panels is almost as cheap as one of the traders on here quoted me for just the bonnet. Grundy
We're all giving it billy big bolloxs but c'mon, in this situation, there's not too many people that would like to go down and confront a company - Especially if there isn't sufficient amount of evidence to back it up with.
