Watshot
One of our PC's is an HP Compaq which died after the storms last week. I was convinced it was the PSU as there was no voltage readings coming from it I linked the pins to kickstart it.....nothing! Anyhow, went online to HP troubleshooting and turns out it was just an on/off switch reset??? Basically, pull the mains lead off the back and wait 10 seconds, then press the on/off button once on top of the unit. Plug mains lead back in and it worked. Doesn't sound much but you might like to try this first YOU, SIR, ARE A WINNER!!!!! IT LIVES...IT LIVES!!! The old turn it off and on again trick, who'd have thought. Only difference being that you have to remove the lead first. That is bizarre, could so easily have ended up on the scrap heap. Many thanks to everyone who tried to help with different suggestions and so on, it really is appreciated, and a no cost win for a change! The Missus said "why are you asking on a car forum?"....... there you have your answer! Massive to everyone.
Ekona
This is the thing: It may look simple, and if you know your way around it is, but trying to choose the right PSU can be a PITA. Last time I bought one it was a 80 Plus Gold 500w which should've been more than enough, but it was a bag of crap (£60 worth of crap, mind) and I then ended up buying an £80 750w one which eventually worked. Still going, in fact, it's for my NAS. So many connectors, and trying to make sure it fitted, and getting it in correctly... Ball ache. EDIT: Still, doesn't matter now as it's fixed, nice one! Stutopia
Isn't fixing stuff for free against forum rules? Surely any kind of issue is an excuse for a mod/upgrade?
