14N
OK, so returned to work this morning to the usual "How was your weekend" questions while making the coffee. I rather proudly told (my non petrolhead) colleagues that I'd won 'Best Engine Bay' at a meet at Cosford on Saturday. From the looks of confusion, mis-understanding and general "Why would you even do such a thing?" that followed, I may as well of just told them I'd microwaved a kitten.

AliveBoy
On facebook I posted a picture of my car apre a trip through a gravel trap. Car people all comment going haha that's hilarious, good going etc. Non-Car people OMG are you ok?! That looks terrible! Can you fix it?! I lost a sideskirt and the front bumper, I didn't get t-boned by an 18 tonne lorry Congrats dude, best engine bay is a tough one to win with the Z's, so many people have done so much. Well deserved

I don't think this would solve the "Why would you even do such a thing?" issue Will May even exaggerate it! Congrats dude, best engine bay is a tough one to win with the Z's, so many people have done so much. Well deserved Thanks mate. Was really pleased to have won, I was up against some stiff competition. Many thanks to everyone that voted for me

Or chroming inside your under the sink cupboard and all the pipework under there being pretty
Stutopia
You should've seen my colleagues' faces when I excitedly showed them my new detailing box. Some of them still don't speak to me. Edited October 13, 2014 by SuperStu
GMballistic
You need to be vague about these sorts of things with non car folk Your car won a competition,,, thee end ^^ This. The only guy that I worked with who was even vaguely interested in cars left for a new job, ...I was honestly gutted. Now there are two guys and one girl and none of them have a clue about cars. They wonder why I "waste" my time cleaning it as it's only going to get dirty again and can't understand why I enjoy spending my money on it to make it go faster when the speed limit is 30, 40, 60 etc. I do like them all but they are definitely not car folk. Thank him for the Cerbera won't you if he had anything to do with it's design. My old man used to have one & I loved it.
