stichy
Hi all I'm looking a buying another zed. My plans are to use the zed as weekend blaster and drift car. I just need to budget . I will be buying a MPS steering kit as I won't be able to get a second hand set. But the main question is how often do 2 way diff come up for sale ? Any help appreciated. AliveBoy
Just weld it. For the cost of a case of beer you'll be done. What do you currently drift?
docwra
I find the standard LSD locks up pretty good TBH, just buy some coilovers and a seat and youre there with a 350 If youre going 2 way, Nismo GT Pro is the daddies.
AliveBoy
I started to learn in a completely standard 350, wobbly suspension and all. As Docwra says, the standard LSD is pretty good, just make sure it has decent oil in it Obviously it depends on your skill level, but I personally wouldn't say big steering lock is high on the list for the Z as it's not bad to start with. I'm certainly no pro, but I've never found myself struggling for lock.
stichy
http://www.partsshopmax.com/page.php?68 This is the steering kit. I've got a welder in my mx5 and a 2 way on my ae86. The 2 way is just a much better setup. Gives greater control. I would rather have to much lock than not enough. The corolla has mega lock and I use most of it. AliveBoy
That's what Bizz has for his steering angle on the LSZ, IIRC he said it wasn't actually that impressive what it added, so much so he's planning on making his own kit I believe. Edit: Having said that, it's not a bad price for a punt if you do need it. This is my standard lock, never measured it though, so I can't help with how much it actually is: Edited October 9, 2014 by AliveBoy
stichy
So are you running a std lsd in yours ? Are you still NA ? Thought for the money it wasn't a bad thing.
AliveBoy
I'm running a welder, it's only an issue when parking or mini roundabouts really. My LSD was getting more like an open diff when it was hot as I needed to change the oil but I had a great offer for swapping my spare open for a welder so I just did that as it was free. Still NA, I'd love a supercharger but money is the issue
StevoD
O the max steering kit bizz has one on his and doesn't get on with it last I heard but the US guys love it wait for the voodoo 13 kit Edited October 9, 2014 by StevoD
stichy
The voodoo kit is amazing but if the 370z kit is anything to go by it will be $4500. That's big money...

StevoD
just because i wanna pic whore if you wanna try it Maverick motorsport in the US make a rack spacer that gives 14 degree extra lock for like $45
stichy
That's exactly the same method used on the ae86 to get more lock. http://www.maverick-motorsports.com/collections/offset-tension-rods/products/steering-angle-rackspacers
AliveBoy
are they literally a bolt on part? Or would you need to start notching things etc? Edited October 10, 2014 by AliveBoy
grahamc
That's exactly the same method used on the ae86 to get more lock. http://www.maverick-...gle-rackspacers Does this change any of the normal driving dynamics on the road (up to motorway speeds)? stichy
The ones I've used just extend the trow off the rack. It won't effect anything else.
stichy
Might make the steering a bit faster. But only slightly.

docwra
Might make the steering a bit faster. But only slightly. How? Rack spacers are generally acknowledged as the easiest way to get more lock without having to start messing with knuckles and offset arms and stuff, and while the spatndard lock is OK for drifting its not the greatest by any means. If you want some then buy these: http://www.driftworks.com/driftworks-geomaster-offset-rack-spacers.html
stichy
Not sure but from past experience fractionally faster. But that was through a non power rack.
