Ian
Front mount? What front mount? Its stock sir May need raising a bit, subframe is pretty low Really need an arch roll on the rear (Hopefully calipers will get fitted today!) Engine is being picked up Tuesday/Wednesday & will then be instantly trial fitted. We are starting to worry a little bit about the room available so may have some custom fab at the front to get everything in. Still on course to be done in time for Japfest

Ian
As usual with the Zupra. Its one step forward two (hundred) steps back I bought some new injectors as the 800cc ones I have wont be big enough The engine is back & ready to be assembled Nicely done head The bottom half has even been test fitted (This will be painted before being fitted to the car!) As you can see though, the engine sits a bit further forward due to our use of the 350Z box over a Supra box which in turn means it doesn't line up with our motor mounts - Lesson learnt here is that my mate should always listen to me on gear box choices (I wanted to use the Supra box from the start, he wanted to use the Z box) And it also means that the radiator doesn't fit! So we now need to move the gearbox back a little bit and make some custom mounts for it. Will also mean having a custom prop shaft - should hopefully have this done by end of next week ( ) i also made the mistake of adding up the cost of the project the other day :scare:
Wasso
Good work my good man My custom prop should be ready end of next week. He's had the prop parts for about 6-8 weeks and only just started. I "should" get my car back this Friday for stage 3. We had to make adjustments in the engine bay. I'll upload a couple of vids.

Wasso
Here we go..... How to adjust for any rubbing. Alternator is revised in the 2010 LS3 and so is positioned higher up than previous models.

Ian
Yeah I've seen that car on speedhunters, Unfortunately their budget is much bigger than mine
-Bradders-
Ian on a 1-10 how easy would you say the swap is once you got the parts? lol, starting to consider doing mine now the engines shot!
Adrian@TORQEN
I'll reply before he has a chance, 1 - 10 it's about 19!
Ian
1000000000 Seriously though, its cheaper to rebuild a VQ and go TT than it is to do a 2JZ swap. At a minimum you need 2JZ engine Wiring Loom Subframe Engine mounts Custom gear box mounts & adaptor plate, flywheel and clutch (If using 350Z box) Supra gearbox & prop shaft (If using supra box) A single turbo conversion due to lack of space (Twins will fit but its VERY tight) Custom down pipe & exhaust FMIC with custom piping custom hoses for the radiator and cooling system new hoses to reroute the fuel system Custom hoses for things like the power steering tank either a race tech dash or the convertors to convert your speedo to work with the supra engine ECU A @*!# load of wiring work to get everything talking to each other and a lot of patience Also bear in mind, that the only off the shelf conversion kit is designed for a LHD car I know how much I have in this car down to the last penny & it would never have gone ahead if I didnt have a Supra to break to make money back
-Bradders-
oh lol may V8 then might be cheaper haha!
Ian
If you can get hold of a healthy 2JZ then I reckon you could do the whole lot of parts for under 10K. My build cost a lot more due to having a broken 2JZ that we ended up forging and its turned out to be more expensive to use a 350Z gearbox than we first thought. Adrian@TORQEN
350z standard engine + supercharger / twin turbo kit is more than enough, within a reasonable budget, easy to maintain for average user with no advanced mechanical knowledge. Anything more than 400-500 bhp will require a lot more supporting mods: suspension, brakes, differential, bushes etc I'm sure Ian has not included all of that in his budget above of £10k
Ian
£10K would be just for the engine conversion. You'd be running standard suspension and brakes. There are plenty of other ways to cut the cost of that 10K down some by using cheaper parts. On the plus side, £10K will get you 700+ hp with a 2JZ
-Bradders-
Haha i wasnt after power, a stock 320bhp 2jz would do me fine! suppose i need to look up my options!
Wasso
My budget for the LS3 is £15k. Currently at £13k with my expectation to hit £16k just over budget, but with 300 Ib-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm peaking at 428 Ib-ft at 4,600 rpm (stock) you can't buy that for a 350z unless you spend monumental amounts of money. This is why I never went TT or SC.

Half your budget gets you this, admittedly on a 370z, not 350z Edited April 27, 2015 by octet@TORQEN
