Kaminari
Hi all, So I've had my car for a few months now. Got it second hand from a nissan dealer, and it's an 04 plate so no warranty though I did get a third party warranty when I purchased it. Anyway, that's by the by. Oh, and it's stock, apart from the red stuff pads I fitted. Anyway, there are a couple of niggles I have, and I just wanted to try and get them sorted because I absolutely love this car and drive it hard, so any help is appreciated! Firstly...maybe it's just paranoia, but I swear that it's not as fast as it used to be. Not sure why, but I feel like it is perhaps the transmission. Would a badly worn clutch make my pull away from standstill slower? Just this week I've been pwned pulling away from a standstill at some lights by a s2000 and a 3 series. It just isn't right and certainly wasn't happening initially. (oh and I'm not that wreckless, I just like to have fun occasionally!) Also, and this is something I am certain of...my car whines more than it used to. Sounds like it's coming from the rear and only gets bad after I've been driving the car for 15 minutes or so. I suspect it's a axle lubrication issue, but I've only read about a clicking issue on here, not a whining issue. Whatever it is, where I used to just hear exhaust noise I now get as much whine... Anyway, I'll stop now, as that's enough to start with...btw, does anyone know where I can get a new plastic fixing rivet thingy for my little tonneau cover? My existing one has broken and my cover now rattles when I go over bumps! Thanks guys!
M13KYF
when did you last have it serviced and what did they carry out on the service
Kaminari
The car was serviced just before I picked it up from the dealers as it was due one. It was apparently a P1 service if memory serves, but I trust those guys about as far as I can throw them (and with my bad arm... ). What I know is that their service reported: - Front brake pads less than 20% wear left. - Tire tread on rears getting low. I think that they also changed my oil and the filter too. My lack of trust in them is due to them completely missing the fact that my drivers side inner rear brake pad was VERY thin (it started squeeling after a couple of months). That's why I changed the pads myself, as my faith in this particular Epsom based dealership is non-existent. Who sells an approved used car with dodgy brake pads? To be honest, I should have taken my business elsewhere, but I was tired of not having a car (my previous one having broken down a month earlier), so I took the first one that seemed reasonable. Maybe I was in error, but the car seemed fine at the time.
sinbad
This isn't a very technical answer but it could need the diff oil changing. How many miles has the car done, possibly be the clutch if its done a fair few miles.
M13KYF
I would also check the air filter has been changed and the filter housing is clear of any leaves
Kaminari
Not sure what a fair few miles is, but I got it with around 38K on the clock I think. Slightly over every day driving mileage I think, but not really bad given the age. I think maybe I just need to take the car to someone who actually cares about their work. Does anyone know of an independent 350Z specialist who can give my car the once over and get everything back up to scratch performance wise? (I don't want to mod if though, just want it running at it's natural peak! ) Perhaps someone based in Surrey? Thanks for the info guys! M13KYF
round the M25 is TDI. They would give it a good once over http://www.tdi-plc.com/index.php and also do special rates for members. http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic ... ht=#124203
WoREoD
My clutch has done 40k and on a recent examination (we wont go into here!) I was told it was less than 50% worn. I know someone who's clutch needed replacing at 60k and he drives *hard* all the time (with ESP off!). Not sure if this helps!
Kaminari
Thanks guys! All useful stuff. I think I might just take it to TDI then and see if they can settle whether it's all in my head or not... Here's hoping I get my acceleration back... I live in Surrey and I reckon Mike has probably identified the nearest source that should be able to help you as I am not aware of any tuner or specialist in Surrey that seem to know about the ZED to any extent. Or does someone out there know otherwise............?

tmJak
I know this threads a bit old but I've just got a second hand Z from Arnold Clark. Not sure if it's got any problems but would like it checking over by someone who's enthusiastic and not just out to make loads of dollars. Anyone know anywhere like TDi to go near Bolton or Manchester?

tmJak
It was the one from Arnold Clark in Salford but they transferred it from the Warrington branch. Hope you don't know something I don't . . . But yeah, that's the one. I'll give TDi North a ring, thanks Digsy
GIXXERUK
no mate it was fine, i almost bought it, the interior was immaculate, i was going to buy a new clio and the zed off them with a part ex of a mk5 golf, he did all the figures and i said i'm spending 30k+ i want to go to get a coffee and think it over and he said he wanted me to leave to a credit card with them to ensure i would return !! so i told them to stick it and walked away, bought my zed private and a new clio from a clark in widnes
tmJak
Dealers do take the ****, but using them was the only way I could get my old car with finance on it sold and get a Z. Would have prefered to do a private sale and saved a few £££ but hey, I have my Z now. Glad to see another Z enthusiast thought it looked worth buying. Just booked it into TDi North for a change to synthetic oil and a general check over. Should have peace of mind next week that it's mechanically sound. Then I can tear up the streets without fear of a wheel falling off (obviously driving as per Highway Code)
