Ekona
No, not for me! My brother has just sold his Cayman R and has picked one of these up for cheaps, we're picking it up tonight. Just wondered if any one else had had one at all, or has any ownership advice?
pjf1985
My mate had one and they're decent cars, don't think he really had any issues with it. He had his mapped and was very rapid! Was about 280bhp I think. Fuel economy wasn't great though because of it lol. Edited September 17, 2014 by pjf1985
StevoD
they leak like a sieve, unless they have the door cassette are re-sealed Water pump propellers break, genuine VAG one is plastic but most aftermarket ones are metal so easy fix Coilpacks fail like most 20vt's i must have changed about 30 rear door locking units on mark 1 leons in the 3.5 years i worked there so they can be arse as you have to remove them as the door locks and never unlocks Good cars tho 100% underdog, people say they handle like poo but i never thought they were that bad when i worked for them also check its a legit 225 as alot of people put the 225 steering wheel on 210 models Edited September 17, 2014 by StevoD
Ekona
Stevo, that's great, thanks! The car in question has had the water pump done for a metal one, I couldn't see any signs of leakage when I checked in the usual areas, apparently the owner has changed 3 out of 4 coil packs, and it's definitely a 225 (paperwork, age, features etc). Didn't realise it was quite so easy as changing the steering wheel to fool people, though. That's the first I've heard of the rear door locks, doesn't sound like much fun to have to do so we'll definitely keep an eye out for that.
